I know there are many people out there that protect the information about how much they weigh better than they protect their ATM PIN number. That cool Withings scale that we talked about last month may be pushing your limits already with sending your weight to the Internet and your iPhone.

Withings announced a new update for the scale today that gives the thing the ability to Tweet your weight and your weight loss or gain goals to Twitter for the unwashed masses to read. The new update does this automatically and you don’t have to do anything to post to Twitter.

People hate stepping on their scale and having it tell them the honest to god facts about their weight. Women especially hate the evils of the scale. Well folks, this new device isn’t going to improve the scale’s image any.

I personally have never had any problem with the simple act of stepping on a scale and looking down at the numbers, but I can see how that might be a problem for some people, whether they are just cringing at the numbers or just can’t see past their enormous girth. I can only presume that this device is geared toward the latter. With this scale, you won’t have to try to circumvent your huge gut to get a look at the numbers. You can just read your weight by looking straight ahead at a remote.

Here is an odd knock off product that defies reason. A fake iPhone that’s really a scale. I guess it would be perfect for the “iDealer” in your neighborhood to weigh his wares on this scale, while having it look like the latest high-tech gadget when the police storm the door.

Upon closer inspection, it’s easy to see that somebody did a rework of the interface in MS Paint. Look for this to show up in new episodes of COPS, sitting by the dope. The other dope will be handcuffed and incoherent wearing the standard grimy white undershirt.

Tanita, a worldwide leader in creating electronic scales, has come out with new scale that checks your weight and then some.

The Tanita BC-545 not only checks your weight, but uses bioelectric impedance analysis to measure your body composition. Now, scales that measure this type of impedance are getting more common and it really doesn’t make the BC-545 all that special, but Tanita takes it a little further to offer some pretty unique and cool features.
