Most kids these days own a mobile phone and Samsung wants a piece of that action. The Toby or S3030 is targeting pre-teens and young adults. Tobi features unique GUI themes with animated characters, such as Monster theme, Snowman theme and Ocean World theme. The backside cover is changeable with a see-through protective sleeve, so a photo can be placed there. The phone will be available in six colors, Sweet Pink, Loyal Blue, Apple Green, Bright Orange, Oasis Blue and Snow Silver.

The safety features in the phone include SOS Call, SOS Message and Fake Call, allowing access to family members and friends in emergencies. Samsung’s Tobi is made from recyclable and biodegradable bio-plastic and has non-toxic paints and non-allergic materials. Even the earphone is made eco-friendly without any polyvinyl chloride. It will be available in Italy and UK this month and then other European countries, CIS, and China later this year.

Samsung has released a new Samsung PIXON M8800 8MP camera phone, known as the Samsung Bresson. The handset will be available on November 10th, 2008 for about 550 euros. The camera phone features a built-in GPS receiver, built-in accelerometer, DivX playback, and supports quad-band GSM and tri-band HSDPA. Some other features include a 3.2-inch touchscreen display (240 x 400 pixels), 8MP camera with auto focus, face recognition, smile detection and blink detection.

Samsung’s showing off at the FPD International 2008 show, with a 4-inch, ultra-thin 0.05-mm OLED with 480 x 272 pixel resolution, 100,000:1 contrast, 200cd/m2 brightness. So thin mind you, that it was displayed flapping in the wind. Then they showed off a transparent AMOLED display. The color reproduction range is 100% of the NTSC standard. Take that you other anorexic displays. In order to achieve this thickness, Samsung etched an OLED panel that uses a normal glass substrate. The drive circuit was made by low-temperature polysilicon TFTs.

For some users a smart phone is overkill. All some people want is the ability to send text messages and make phone calls. For this type of user, a fancy smartphone with word processing and other functions isn’t particularly appealing.

AT&T has announced a new Samsung handset called the Propel that is designed with the text user in mind. The phone has a full QWERTY keyboard in a vertical sliding design. Multiple color options are available and the handset can do email and offers 3G connectivity.

Now that HD DVD is dead, the Blu-ray player is pretty much a commodity item. Player manufacturers are looking for anything they can get to differentiate their players from the competition in the market. Samsung announced a partnership with Netflix today that will help make Samsung Blu-players more interesting.

The Samsung BD-P2500 and BD-P2550 Blu-ray players will be able to stream Netflix movies instantly from the Internet to Netflix subscribers. In addition to a catalog of 12,000 movies, Netflix also offers TV shows.

Samsung and AT&T have made it official. The i907 Epix looks nice and features Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, 3.6Mbps HSDPA, WiFi, Bluetooth, 2-megapixel cam, AGPS with AT&T Navigator, Video Share support, 320 x 320 2.5-inch touchscreen display, and an “optical mouse” for some reason. You can get it now for $99.99 on a two-year contract. One thing that you definitely notice about this one is the extra screen real estate that could have been…If not for the overly large area that displays the AT&T logo. Otherwise, it looks good.

Samsung has rolled out another stylish notebook that looks attractive and is also slim and fairly lightweight at 1.9kg despite packing in a 6-cell battery that will give you juice for 5 hours. It also offers a larger 14.1-inch (1280 x 800) screen and comes in at just 1.2-inches thick. Features an Intel Centrino 2 with up to 4GB of RAM, up to a 320GB HDD, Super Multi Drive DVD burner with LightScribe, nVIDIA GeForce Go 9200M GS chipset for gaming, 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi, gigabit ethernet, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, a 7-in-1 card reader, and HDMI output. And if you are into that sort of thing you even get an anti-bacterial keyboard will keep you healthy. No price or availability yet. Sure looks sexy.

It doesn’t seem to make a lot of sense, but just after Samsung announced new Blu-Ray players, Andy Griffiths of Samsung UK made this comment: “I think it [Blu-Ray] has 5 years left, I certainly wouldn’t give it 10.”

Griffiths didn’t speculate on what might replace Blu-Ray, but maybe they know something we don’t. Or Samsung might just think that video downloads will be the future. Whatever the case, the comments don’t exactly make you want to rush out and buy a Samsung Blu-Ray player. Or any Blu-Ray player.

The new Samsung X360 laptop looks like it might be something special, measuring in at only 0.66-inches thick and weighing 2.8-pounds, it obviously wants to compete with the MacBook Air. The 13.3-inch laptop is powered by a Centrino 2 ULV processor and sports 1GB of RAM and can support up to 4GB.

You can choose from 64GB or 128GB SSD, or a 5400RPM 120GB HDD, X4500 integrated graphics. Some other features are a 7-in-1 card reader, three USB ports, PCI ExpressCard/34, HDMI, VGA, LAN, docking port, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0+ EDR and a 1.3 megapixel camera. No optical drive. The battery will supposedly give you 6 to 10 hours. No word on price yet.

Many people who shoot lots of digital pictures are big fans of digital photo frames. The frames give somewhere for all of the digital pictures they shoot to be viewed. Digital frames have become much more useful since makers have begun integrating Wi-Fi into the frames.

Samsung introduced four new digital photo frames today called the SPF-85H, SPF-85V, SPF-105P, and SPF-105V. The 85 models have an 8-inch screen and the 105 models both have a 10-inch screen. Both the 85V and 105V have built-in Wi-Fi connectivity with 802.11b/g. The Wi-Fi frames are optimized for Windows Live Spaces for photo sharing and can display RSS feeds from USA Today and more.

Samsung has been kicking out new TVs and monitors left and right recently. Yesterday Samsung introduced a new high-end line of Series 9 LED HDTVs. In addition to new TVs Samsung is also announced new monitors as well.

Samsung has introduced a new series of HDTV monitors for its “touch of color” line that are aimed at desktop use with both computers and entertainment components like DVD players. The line includes the T220HD, T240HD, and the T260HD. The three monitors share some of the same features including 10000:1 dynamic contrast ratios, dual HDMI inputs, and built-in ATSC/QAM tuners.

Samsung’s new 8 MP camera phone is called the Innov8. Get it? It’s jam packed with features. Some features include an auto-panorama mode, bright flash, smile, blink, and face detection, wide dynamic range capturing abilities, and a video recorder capturing clips at 30 frames per second.

If you tire of being a tourist and want some music it also has FM radio. Still not enough for you? In addition it sports Wi-Fi, a large display with accelerometer, and an optical mouse, 3.5mm headset jack, stereo Bluetooth, 16GB of internal memory, microSD card slot, music player, and A-GPS. Oh it also makes calls.

Here’s some info on the BlackJack III. Apparently the carrier will be AT&T in October with a full version of Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional. Word on the street is that it has a 3 MP camera, 528 Mhz processor, aGPS, Wi-Fi, HSDPA, and more. Apparently, it’s a “rebadged” version of the Samsung i788. The question is, how much do you want to pay and what is the price. It’s not for everyone, but I know some of you have been really waiting for it.

Those looking to up their fashion will like Samsung’s new BlackJack IIs in pink and blue. These are obviously geared toward fashionable geek girls and men who are ultra secure in their manhood. Or maybe those just looking for something different. These new models feature white fronts with color-coordinated keys and girlly designs on the back. They’ll cost you $99 each on contract.

All of the mobile phone makers want to grab their share of the touchscreen mobile phone market. This has resulted in a slew of would be iPhone killers hitting the market and so far not one of the iPhone me too’s has really made much of a dent.

When Samsung introduced its sprint exclusive Instinct handset it even looked a lot like the iPhone and many wondered if it would be another disappointment. It only took a few weeks after the Instinct’s introduction to see that it was a hit with Sprint saying it was breaking sales records and due to its popularity the device was hard to find.
