Welcome to the future, where if you need a new keyboard you may as well get a projector. The Light Touch pico projector throws a laser WVGA image up to 10-inches, turning any surface into a touchscreen. The projector runs on Adobe Flash Lite 3.1 and has 2GB of flash memory along with a microSD card slot with support up to 32GB.

Of course it’s also packing Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to connect to your laptop or other device. The battery life is 2 hours, which is about what you would expect. It’s very useful for a variety of situations.

Another day, another pico-projector. This latest is a new model by RoyalTek, the RPJ-2000, all set to be the first of several from the company in 2010. The RPJ-2000 uses a second-gen 3M LCoS chipset and will project up to a 65-inch image with 14 lumens brightness and 640 x 480 resolution.

This one includes VGA and NTSC/PAL TV inputs, but there’s no integrated mediaplayer or onboard storage. They do throw in 0.5W stereo speakers and the RPJ-2000 is Apple-certified so you can use it with iPods and iPhones. You just have to add $43 for the adapter kit on top of the $315 price.

Check out this somewhat retro and overly plasticized portable projector with a built-in DVD player. It looks like an old Viewmaster-type toy. But it’s not all about looks. It’s what’s on the inside that counts. Because what it does is allow you to plug it in, pop in a DVD, and watch a movie on a 50-inch screen in about 3 minutes. Anywhere.

Can’t beat that right? You don’t buy this for the design and you won’t base your home theater setup around it, but it’s damn convenient.

One of the reasons I love my big 30-inch LCD is the high resolution of 2560 x 1600. That resolution provides fantastic graphics for gaming and lets me get lots of stuff on the screen at once when working.

Projectiondesign has unveiled the world’s first WQXGA projector capable of 2560 x 1600 resolution using the Texas Instruments WQXGA DLP chip. The projector has HDMI, DVI-D, VGA, and component connectivity and supports HD resolutions.

Check out this new projector from Epson. Isn’t it dreamio? Epson thinks so, if the name is any indication. The Epson Dreamio EH-DM30 comes with a built-in DVD player and houses 10W x 2ch speakers. It’s capable of throwing 720p images with a maximum 1,280 x 800 resolution.

Some other specs include a 3,000:1 contrast ratio, 2,500 lumens brightness and HDMI. The built-in DVD player can handle JPEG, MP3, WMA and DivX/DivX Ultra file formats as well. You can plug your USB flash drive in directly to enjoy your images big.

Epson’s EH-DM3 is an all-in-one portable karaoke projector that will have you singing at the party. It arrives in November for £579 and the unit will play from USB, HDMI, PC, TV tuner, digital cameras and MP3 players. It also features an integrated slot for DVDs and a microphone jack so you can shatter glass and make cats yowl in pain.

Some other features include 2 x 10W built-in speakers, carry handle, 3000:1 contrast and 2000 lumens of brightness.

French-based Bonitor has released a pair of new mini projectors for the mass market. The MP201 shown above and the MP301. Both projectors feature a native resolution of 640 x 480 4:3 pixels along with 15 lumens of brightness, a 1.57/1.62 throw ratio and a rechargeable battery.

The MP201 is specially designed for game consoles, DVD/Blu-ray disc players, mobile phone and portable media players and only has a Composite Video input. The MP301 on the other hand geared toward desktop computers, laptop, netbook and UMPC, and features USB and VGA connectors.

ViewSonic has introduced a wireless video streamer and a portable SVGA projector. The WPG-350 wireless video streamer can stream 1024 x 768 presentation slides over a Wi-fi network and you can even watch video on a remote VGA device on a remote system.

Next up, the PJD2121 is an advanced ultra-portable DLP projector built with BrillantColor technology that features a 800 x 600 resolution with 400 lumens and a 1,800:1 contrast ratio. The ViewSonic WPG-350 retails for $199 and the ViewSonic PJD2121 retails for $449.

The Sanyo LP-XU106 projector has some awesome specs that take it to the industry’s highest brightness level at 4,500 lumens. This is the ultra portable segment we’re talking here,. It’s no pushover when it comes to its other features as well.

The Sanyo LP-XU106 projector features a contrast ratio of 1,000:1, Corner Keystone Correction Function and an Easy Setup Function. No word on what the resolution is, but at least you’ll be able to see the projected images in a bright room.

Yinlips has unveiled a new portable media player that goes by the unimaginative name of Projector. I suppose that’s because the most notable feature of the device is its built-in projector capable of throwing an image of up to 80″ in size on any flat surface.

It also supports DVD format video projection and comes with a 3.5″ display in case you don’t need to watch something large. Some other features include video streaming support, 64-bit games compatibility and the ability to project games onto a wall. Our main concern is battery life. Measuring just 2cm thin, it can’t provide much time.

Optoma has announced a brand spanking new projector that hovers below the $1,000 price point. Barely. The HD20 is a DLP-based front projector featuring a 1080p resolution and is aimed squarely at computer and home theater users. You can take the image all the way up to 120-inches and it has a contrast ratio of 4,000:1, with 1,700 lumens of brightness.

Some other features include two HDMI ports and a VGA connection. Some analog connectors are also included like RCA and component. No release date yet, but the $999 price tag sure makes it tempting.

AAXA Technologies has unveiled their latest pico-projector dubbed the P2. It measures only 4.3-inch x 2.1-inch x 1-inch and weighs just 260 grams. The palm sized projector sports a 800 x 600 resolution, 33 lumens brightness, 1,000:1 contrast ratio, 1GB of storage, a microSD card slot and a 1,700mAh rechargeable battery that lasts up to 35 minutes.

It also comes complete with 1W stereo speakers, a 3.5mm composite A/V port, a mini USB port, a 3.5mm headphone jack and VGA port. The AAXA P2 is available now for pre-order for $349.

Vivitek has announced its all new 1080p model projector that should hit US retail this August for $999. The company’s H1080FD will be based on Texas Instruments’ S450 chip / light-engine design with Dark Chip II technology.

Some other specs include 1,800 lumens of brightness, a 5,000:1 contrast ratio, two HDMI ports, composite / S-Video / component inputs, RS-232c control connector and a 12v trigger. Lamp life is rated at 3,000 hours and Vivitek has designed the cabinet for easy bulb access, if you need to replace burned out lamps.

WowWee’s Cinemin Swivel pico projector first showed up back at CES, when it was announced along with the Stick and Station models. This DLP is the first of Wowwee’s iPod-compatible multimedia pico projectors powered by Texas Instruments’ DLP Technology. It boasts 480 x 360 resolution, an adjustable 90-degree hinge so you can do things like project onto the ceiling easily, and a three-hour battery life to boot.
