Are you looking for some extra screen real estate on your laptop? Instead of upgrading to a larger laptop, why not just park another screen next to the one you already use? The Cinq is a 10-inch USB monitor that you can hang on the side of your screen, giving you some extra space.

It’s not just a screen, it also has an SD card reader attached. Sure it looks like a rear view mirror for laptops, but it could come in handy. It will be released in the third quarter of this year for $249.

It’s funny how companies can change. BenQ used to make cheap, but decent electronics. They still make the cheap stuff, but they offer some premium gear too. We’ve been impressed by some of their offerings lately.

The M2700HD is a 27-inch, 16×9 monitor with 1080P and a dynamic contrast ratio of 50,000:1. You’ll also get two HDMI inputs and 10W virtual surround speakers. Not bad for this size that can work as a PC monitor or TV. We are interested to find out what this will be priced at given their history.

Back in September, ASUS announced a new range of ultra sexy LCD monitors called the Designo MS. Well, now the range has been upgraded to the LS series with the latest model dubbed the Designo LS246H. This monitor is designed to be as eco friendly as it can be as it’s manufactured with 50% less hazardous materials than most monitors and uses up to 30% less power.

The 23.6-inch monitor will handle both HDMI and VGA connectivity, which means that you can easily connect your video game console or any other device that supports those formats. The monitor features full HD with a 1920 x 1080 resolution and 16.7 million colors. There’s also a touch sensitive control dial in front and a ring shaped stand to prop it up.

Hyundai has two new 3D LCD monitors for the European market. The 22-inch W220S and the 24-inch W240S. Both monitors come complete with polarized glasses to insure that you look your dorkiest while taking in that sweet 3D.

Some other features include a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, two 3W speakers, a D-Sub port, a DVI port and an HDMI port. The W220S has a native resolution of 1680 x 1050 pixels with a 5ms response time, while the W240S offers a higher resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels with 6ms response time.

NEC has dropped yet another eco-friendly LCD monitor, this one aimed at business users. It’s called the MultiSync LCD175M, a 17-inch LCD monitor with an energy efficient display, reducing power consumption by nearly 42% compared to regular panels.

Some specs include a native resolution of 1280 x 1024 pixels, 5ms response time, 250 cd/m2 brightness and it features an EPEAT Gold rating, a TCO 5.0 certification and Energy Star 5.0 compliance. The NEC MultiSync LCD175M retails for just $179.

So now we have two major manufacturers offering multitouch displays. Who will be the third? HP Compaq’s L2105tm is available today for $300. This display is fully certified for Windows 7 and features a 1920×1080 resolution, 1000:1 contrast, 5ms response time, and sports VGA, DVI-D with HDCP connections.

It supports one and two-finger control. If you are old school there’s a plastic stylus hidden in a nook around back.

Lately many all-in-ones have featured multitouch monitors. Well here’s a multitouch 21.5 inch monitor from Dell, the SX2210T, without the all-in-one PC included.

This monitor hasn’t yet been officially announced, but we can guess that it’s IR-based. Other than that, specs are what you would expect from your typical monitor, with 1920×1080 resolution, 1000:1 contrast and 2ms response time. You also get HDMI/DVI-in and a webcam/mic. We like. Nothing on pricing and no release date yet.

Philips has introduced its latest addition to its LCD monitor line with the Brilliance 225P1ES. This 22 inch widescreen monitor includes the PowerSensor feature which detects when the user is not in front of the screen and lowers the contrast and brightness until the user returns.

According to Philips, while in power-savings mode, the LCD’s consumption will drop by 70%. Some other features include a native resolution of 1680 x 1050 pixels, a 5ms response time, 250 cd/m2 brightness, 1000:1 contrast ratio, built-in two 1.5W speakers, plus D-Sub, DVI and USB connectors.

DoubleSight Displays has introduced three new Smart USB monitors. They are available in 7 or 9 inch models, and are mostly identical in design, except that the DS-90UC model has a detachable webcam and the two 9-inch displays have 1,024 x 600 resolution, while the 7 inch display has 800 x 480.

The 9 inch model costs only $20 more than its smaller counterpart, $140 vs. $120, making the choice easy. The webcam-equipped version will cost you $160. A tiny monitor can come in pretty handy for things like Photoshop or email.

Hyundai has unveiled two new Full HD Monitors, expanding their lineup with the V226Wa and the V236Wd. Both of these widescreen monitors boast a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, a 5ms response time, 300 cd/m2 brightness and 20,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio.

The V226Wa comes with 1W speakers and a D-Sub connector only, while the V236Wd has 1.5W speakers along with D-Sub and DVI ports.

ViewSonic has released another six LCD models. The VT3245 ($649) and VT3745 ($799) feature Full HD (1920×1080) resolution, 5ms response time, 4,000:1 contrast ratio, 3D video processing and an SRS TruSurround XT audio surround sound experience.

The higher end N4285 ($999) also has Full HD support as well as a 10,000:1 contrast ratio. The VT2042, VT2342 and VT2645 were specially developed to bridge the gap between an LCD monitor and a regular TV. The VT2042 ($299)and VT2342 ($349) sports a resolution of 1,600 x 900 and 1,920 x 1,080, respectively. The latter has three HDMI connections.

Two heads are better than one, so two LCD screens slapped together must be better than one. EVGA’s dual-LCD InterView is now finally available to order. It’s selling for as low as $624.99 (or $640 list price). The monitor features dual 17-inch LCDs that can be used in screen-spanning mode for an extra-wide 34-inch display, or be rotated and reoriented for users sitting across form each other gameshow style.

Each display sports 1,440 x 990 resolution, and you’ll need dual VGA or DVI inputs if you want to run it from one computer. Some other features include 8ms response time, a 1.3MP webcam with microphone, and a three-port USB Hub.

Asus just launched its new Designo MS series, which is a line of ultra-slim monitors How slim? How about 0.64″? They are available in five diagonal sizes: 20, 21.5, 22, 23 and 23.6 inches. Asus says that the design comes from binary numbers and various design elements that use 0′s and 1′s.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t see it. Anyhow, this series does look sexy and sleek though and supposedly they use 40% less energy than other monitors. You can Expect 1080p resolution, 50000:1 contrast, 2mn response time and HDMI.

HANNspree has unveiled two HF series widescreen LCD monitors: The 20-inch HF207AP and the 23-inch HF237HP. The HF207AP supports a native resolution of 1600 x 900 pixels, along with only two connectivity ports including D-Sub and DVI.

The HF237HP offers a higher resolution at 1920 x 1080 pixels and throws in an extra connectivity port, giving you D-Sub, DVI and HDMI. Both monitors have a 5ms response time, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 300 cd/m2 brightness and two 1W speakers. Both LCDs feature a high gloss, black mirror finish and curved slim frame.

BenQ has unveiled the upcoming 27-inch LCD monitor dubbed the M2700HDS in Japan. This latest widescreen monitor from the company boasts a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, a 5ms response time, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 300 cd/m2 brightness and four 2.5W built-in speakers.

As far as ports, it features USB, D-Sub, DVI and two HDMI ports. The M2700HDS will be available later in the year. Unfortunately, we don’t have a price yet, but it should fall in line with other monitors with comparable specs.
