Blip: free geo-social interaction for your BlackBerry

Blip for BlackBerryThose BlackBerry users out there that have real jobs and actually get out of the house every now and again, unlike me, may find Blip to be an interesting and useful application. Using Blip you and your friends, family and co-workers can show your location to other people in your group.

Blip is from BlackLine GPS and according to BlackLine Blip users have complete and total control over who can see their location information. No one the user hasn’t approved can see the info. I can see this as both a good and bad thing. I guess it would be cool to see where in your city or block your pals are. However, if your boss, otherwise known as “The Man”, puts this on your BlackBerry he can see where you are as well. Kind of kills that opportunity to grab a long lunch break when you are out of the office working.

Samsung AnyCall Haptic with 22 types of touch

Posted in Mobile Phones by Darrin Olson on March 25th, 2008

Samsung AnyCall Haptic mobile phone with multiple types of touch feedbackSamsung is jumping in the market joining the ranks of LG, Apple and others who have put out mobile phones featuring a touchscreen interface with the new AnyCall Haptic SCH-W420 mobile phone. Touchscreens have been all the rage for the past year or so, and already there are enough that companies have to come out with some unique features to help one stand out from the other.

To the AnyCall Haptic, Samsung has added some vibrating tactile feedback to the touchscreen. In fact, they’ve added 22 different types of feedback to your fingers from the screen, depending on what you’re doing with the phone such as dialing a number, moving objects around or spinning a dial. Whether or not your fingers are able to distinguish between 22 different type of vibrations is another story, but at least some feedback helps quite a bit if you’ve every tried to quickly dial a number on a flat touchscreen.

ZJ268: The devil’s cell Phone
This is probably a hoax, but if not then I’m sure this was given to Tenacious D by the devil, so they can keep in touch and have more rock-offs. Aside from being obviously horny, it claims to have a stunning 666 days of standby time.

I don’t know about that, but this handset has a 32,800mAh “super battery” and features a dual SIM, GSM900/DCS1800 support and a 3″ display. It retails for $128, but you can probably work something out where you save the money and sign away your soul.

LionKing800 mobile phone claims to have long-life battery with a 1 year standby timeThis Chinese mobile smartphone doesn’t appear much different form many of the mobile devices on the market today but the manufacturer is claiming that it does have at least one significant difference. The makers of the the LionKing800 are claiming that it has high-capacity battery that gives it up to “about” 365 days of standby time and 3-5 days of continuous talk time.

It does have a 16,800mAh lithium battery which is significantly more than you would probably find in your current cellphone, so maybe it could be possible if the phone sat in a dark, quite room without being touched for a year. Either that or someone is just confused.

Zeki walkie-talkie with SMS and MP3 for kids
Here’s an interesting way to pimp out your toddler. Korean company YoungToys released a cellphone/digital toy aimed directly at kids and toddlers. “Zeki” uses Near Field Communication(NFC) technology to communicate between mom and kid, or kid and kid, up to an 80-meter distance. Some other features include mp3 playback, voice & video recording, SMS and alarm function and the ability to absorb kid germs.

Zeki also supports the exchange of data between devices, so kids can exchange songs and videos, or plot the demise of an adult. The $105 device is made from materials harmless to their rugrat bodies and the phone is apparently shielded against electromagnetic waves, so you do not have to worry about your kid’s brain being fried. This would go well with the Sweetpea MP3 player he/she has already drooled all over.
