Airvana shows off HubBub femtocell focusing on data speeds

Posted in Mobile Phones by Shane McGlaun on March 23rd, 2009

hubbubfemtocell-sbFemtocells are small devices that resemble wireless routers that take cellular signals indoors and route them across the Internet allowing users to get better reception when in their home or office. Most femtocells focus on being able to improve voice call quality and fail to mention benefits provided in data speeds.

Airvana has been showing off its HubBub CDMA femtocell and is focusing on the improvements the device offers on broadband speeds and connectivity indoors rather than voice call quality. The company says that studies have shown that while 36% of voice calls with mobile phones happen inside a user’s home, 45% of data usage happens inside the home.

Fake Louis Vuitton Motorola AuraIf you like the Motorola Aura and love yourself some fake luxury, you’ll want to check out this latest knock-off. It adds the popular and overpriced Louis Vuitton treatment to Moto’s phone. It’s called the Imobile Phone V453.

This bastard love child of branding ditches the Aura’s circular display for a square-within-a-circle display. It also has a ring of LED lights around the display. That at least is new.

Even if it does seem extreme. The device is manufactured by QiiQ EcoCarrier Inc. operating out of the RAK Free Economic Zone in UAE.

It can hold three SIM cards but activate only two at any one time, making it convenient if you have several phone numbers and need to keep your personalities separate. Some features include 900/1800/1900MHz and 900/1800MHz GSM connectivity, 2 megapixel camera and a 2.4” QVGA display.

SBMP-N90 phone inspired by Dubai buildingsWhen you run out of inspiration while designing a phone, just turn to modern architecture. That’s the story behind this odd looking handset. It was inspired by the Burj Al Arab building in Dubai. Where they build all those crazy futuristic buildings.

If you like the style of that part of the world, why not pick up the dual-SIM SBMP-N90 cell phone? Sadly, what’s under the hood is nowhere near as cutting edge as the actual buildings. It’s just a standard GSM and a 1.3 megapixel camera.

Cool8800C flip-phone with gaming controlsUsable gaming controls on a name brand phone? No. Usable game controls on a not-so-name-brand phone. The Cool8800C handset from Solomobi looks like a typical Chinese phone, but has a few nice features that might make you consider a purchase. It supports dual-SIM cards, has an analog TV tuner and other features you’d expect in a new cellphone.

What really makes this one stand out is the flip out screen and keypad that reveals another larger screen underneath along with gaming controls. It only plays classic NES titles though and comes with 3 built-in. If you want more you can load them with a memory card.

Paul Frank monkey head phone

Posted in Mobile Phones by Conner Flynn on February 15th, 2009

Paul Frank monkey head phoneThe Paul Frank monkey is almost as pervasive as Hello Kitty. I’m not sure which to fear more. But I know that one day they will fight it out Aliens VS. Predator style and we will then know our new master.

Until that day, the merchandising train keeps rolling along. This Paul Frank Monkey shaped mobile phone is not an official product. It’s a clamshell phone with one eye that works as camera. It’s a pretty basic phone that features a 1.6 inch TFT display screen, 1.3-megapixel camera, FM radio, Bluetooth, music player, stereo speakers and a microSD expansion slot.

Sexy ladies love the Fin Phone

Sexy ladies love the Fin PhoneSo, what can we take away from this image? I think it says that hot women love ridiculous gadgets. In pink. Shaped like a Flipper. I think we can also safely say, judging by this image that, should a woman slide her phone into a flipper shaped case, cleavage will follow.

If you hit the link, you’ll see some more hot women who worship the stupidest phone case ever, as well as some happy looking douche that looks like he should be on the beach trying to bum some money off you. Oh, and there’s also a shot of this thing hanging from your belt loop and looking oh so hip.
