The Zippo OUL, not your typical Zippo lighter
Here’s a gadget from Zippo that sure would come in handy this holiday weekend. It’s bound to be perfect for camping or just lighting the grill, especially in the dark. The Zippo OUL (Outdoor Utility Lighter) will cost you $22 and features a wind-resistant dual flame and built-in LED light. The 8-inch-tall not-so-typical Zippo lighter also has an adjustable flame dial, water-resistant cap, metal construction, and comes with clip and strap. After you light the grill and enjoy the day, then use it to light candles at night. Hopefully the kind that ward off insects.

Refillable keyboard lighter

Refillable keyboard lighter
How do you light a fire under a geek? With a nicely detailed computer keyboard lighter of course. Ask any geek if he smokes and he’ll probably say something witty like, “Only when I overclock my Xbox and fry the mainboard.”, followed by an asthma tinged laugh and a puff on his inhaler.

Well, for those geeks who want to show off a little while lighting up, these keyboard lighters are the ticket. They’re roughly the size of a standard Bic lighter and have some awesome detail. You can get them in 6 different colors or with black or white keys. They’re refillable, not disposable. Looks like they are only in the UK at the moment unfortunately.

Colibri lighter ignites by breaking the beam

Colibri Beam Sensor Lighter ignites by breaking the photoelectric beamThis lighter isn’t really new technology but I ran across it today and thought it was pretty cool, and I don’t even have any real need for a lighter. If I did need a lighter however, I think this might be the ticket.

No longer do you have to flick your lighter manually and run the risk of wearing out or worse yet, damaging those precious gaming thumbs. This lighter from Colibri has a photoelectric sensor beam incorporated into the lighter that signals the flames ignition. When you flip open the lid a visible red beam appears, then by simply breaking the light beam with your finger the lighter automatically ignites. The lighter flame runs on butane that can be replaced and the ignition is battery powered.
