Lego. We had thought that anything you could make out of Lego bricks had already been made. But we forgot about the classical music scene. This cello is made entirely of Legos. And it’s life sized. And it works.

Brick artist Nathan Sawaya claims that it “sounds different than a regular cello”. Use your imagination. What would a Lego Cello sound like? Yeah, like that. Not tinny, more of a brickish plastic sound. Now we just need the rest of the Lego band. They can tour the country and sell out to geek crowds. Get geek groupies. Dig?

Have a hankering to play with Legos and walky talkies at the same time? We have you covered. Sure, they are slightly ugly, but they are for the serious Lego addict who doesn’t mind. It’s just the latest in a continuing series of Lego gadgets that have been assaulting us over the last few months.

These sport a 3000 foot range, volume control and push to talk features, while completely lacking style. There’s a clip on the back so you can attach it to your pants. It works on 2 AAA batteries and retails for $28.

You’ve seen all of the LEGO gadgets we feature around here day in and day out. You’ve ordered so many that your bedroom looks like Legoland. Well, here’s another. The LEGO Clock Radio is shaped like what else? A giant LEGO brick.

That brick is ten times the size of an original LEGO brick. It features the usual volume knobs and tuner controls, with AM/FM radio and a snooze feature. Unlike real LEGOs this requires 4 AA batteries.

We all love us some LEGO, whether in statue form or as a Foosball table, or whatever. This one takes a green approach, combining LEGO and a flashlight.

This 7″ tall Lego minifig has a set of white LED lights in its right foot that can be used as a flashlight. It’s powered by a dynamo, so you can charge it up by cranking the minifig’s left arm. Yeah, it isn’t really a minifig at 7″ tall. We know.

LEGO fans who are also foosball fans will love this one. This LEGO Coffee Table Foosball Table features custom minifigs and an authentic “faux” oak woodgrain finish. The creator says that he still has to tweak some of the finer details, but it looks pretty amazing. Much nerdier and cooler than the Barbie Foosball table.

The only question we have is, how durable is this? It has some amazing detail and looks like a lot of fun. The pirate flag is a nice touch. Now, who will battle him in the first official LEGO foosball championship? You know it’s coming. Better keep an eye out and get your tickets.

Remember that cool working Lego safe we featured awhile back? Well now somebody has created a fully functional Lego combination safe. Just put all of your valuables in this thing and they will be…well, not safe really. We’re talking Legos. But it might be fun to build one.

This is one of the cooler Lego Donkey Kong things we’ve seen in quite some time. Sure, it doesn’t move and actually do stuff like this one, but just look at all that amazing detail.

Hammers, barrels,fire, it has it all. It’s all the more impressive because it doesn’t move. After taking it in for a bit, you feel like it could/should. Sure, Mario and the Princess are just generic Lego people, but that’s maybe it’s only flaw. Look at those ladders and beams. My inner nerd is happy now and so I share it with you.

We’re hoping that this Ghostbuster’s Ecto 1 car will inspire LEGO to issue some official Ghostbusters sets. This beautiful replica comes from LEGO brickmaster Rocko and it’s awesome.

It’s all ready to lay the smack down on some ghosts while violating every traffic law in the state of New York.(Well, the lego New York that you build.) Rocko does great work. Come on LEGO, show some Ghostbusters love.

We’ve seen some awesome Lego creations, and this one is just as cool. Philo Hurbain built this 3D scanner because he was looking for a way to model complex Lego parts for use in the LDraw CAD program.

Even the drive components and sensors are made from Lego pieces, except for the probe needle, which is apparently a sewing needle. The “brains” of the device is the Mindstorms NXT. Below, you can watch the device in action as it models a Lego frog.

We’ve seen some pretty impressive Lego creations. Whether it’s the Lego Uzi, the Lego Playstation, or the old Lego safe, one thing is for sure. We love playing with Legos.

This functional LEGO house is a working computer. But the amount of detail that went into it is simply stunning. You could look at it all day and still find more things that you missed. Sadly, the display was not given the LEGO treatment. Hit the link below for a video.

We’ve seen Lego guns before, but this one is pretty special. It was inspired by the Micro Uzi and this LEGO weapon packs a punch. It can shoot dozens of rubber bands in just seconds.

Flip the switch and it can go from semi-automatic to fully-automatic. You’ll want to hit the link for a video of the uzi in action, where you will see that this is not your average wimpy rubber band gun. It can fire off rounds as fast as you can pull the trigger. The secret apparently is in the 8 x 1 LEGO beam that pivots around it’s center, for its firing action.

Those Lego-branded Digital Blue devices/toys we’ve been telling you about are starting to surface. This prototype of the video camera was spotted at a toy fair in Nuremberg.

There aren’t any other details at the moment, but it’s a bit disappointing as it looks a little too polished and not handmade like the walkie talkie and digital camera we showed you. Oh well, you win some you lose some. It is a prototype, so who knows, it may go through some changes.

Alcatel and Lego teaming up to make a Lego handset? Earlier this year Lego and Digital Blue announced combined efforts that would yield a variety of Lego-electronics aimed at kids. The announcement included details on a digital camera, a walkie talkie and an MP3 player. The functional toys would fall into an affordable $20 – $60 price range.

Now Alcatel is apparently jumping into the mix and the trio is planning to get cell phones in the hands of children using Legos. This piece of Lego-electronics is rumored to be released by this summer along with the rest. Not sure yet if you’ll be able to connect a few of these Lego handsets together or not.

Lego is awesome, but the sets can be mighty expensive. Some of them will cost you a few hundred bucks. Sometimes it might be nice to actually see what the completed model looks like before you drop a huge wad of dough on it. Augmented reality to the rescue. Metaio, a Germany company has come up with a system that lets you hold the box in front of the screen, then shows you what that model will look like completed. If only we had had this when we were kids.

It’s the only one in existence at the moment, but if Lego is smart, you and I will be seeing these Digital Boxes in stores worldwide. It would really help sales. Plus, after a while they could update it and show you what other things you could build with that same kit.

Lego’s just announced that they will be teaming up with Digital Blue to bring out a line of digital cameras, PMPs, and walkie talkies for kids. Modders have been making gadgets out of Legos for awhile now, so I guess the company figured they would do the work for people. Kids at least.

The products feature the familiar “Lego” look, but they are not constructed out of actual bricks. We don’t have any specs yet, but these Lego gadgets are said to be arriving this summer, prices ranging from $19 – $60.
