Pac man Christmas treeIt’s the season to be gobbling up power pellets and chasing flashing blue ghosts for the residents of Madrid, Spain. That is where this giant Pac-Man inspired Christmas tree can be found in all of its LED glory. Situated in the Nuevos Ministerios part of downtown, photos of the tree have appeared online but unfortunately we don’t know much else about who made it, how tall it is, how many lights were used in its making or if it’s three or four-sided like the photos seem to suggest. It is partially animated and some of the ghosts and Pac-Man dash back and forth. We give props to the faithfulness of the colors and light placement. All that is missing are joysticks and the ability to play the game while standing in front of the tree. Oh well, there is always next year to unveil the upgrade. Follow the link below to see a video that someone took of the tree.

Pac-Man Christmas tree

I think I’ve just found my all-time dream Christmas tree. This has got to be the coolest tree ever made. I mean look at it, standing like some great monument to classic gaming, awaiting only spectators to behold it’s glory.

It seems that some geek or geeks in Spain have been very busy elves. They’ve re-created Pac-Man and his ghostly arch enemies in a giant light display. The “tree” is actually a fully-animated version of the classic coin-op arcade game. They rendered it across thousands of colored LEDs. Check out a video here. I don’t speak Spanish, so I have no idea what they are saying. But a Pac-Man tree is cool in any language.

Desktop LED Christmas tree is powered by a 9-volt battery and made out of circuit boardsWe geeks like Christmas just as much if not more than most people since its the time of year when our favorite gadgets, components and games all drop in price and we place specific orders with relatives hoping someone will give them to us. We also don’t mind getting into the holiday spirit but who wants a fluffy, cheesy-looking ornament or tree on their desk?

Luckily someone is thinking ahead for us and has come up with this Dekstop LED Christmas Tree to allow you to show off some holiday spirit without bringing your geek-ability into question. The LED Christmas tree has LED blinking, colored lights on it which are powered by a 9-volt battery. The battery also doubles as the stand and the branches to which the lights are attached are made to resemble circuit boards. The little 4-inch tall tree retails for just $9.95 and even comes with a battery.

LED clock design is faceless

vice versa LED clock design concept has only hands to show the timeThis LED clock design entitled ‘vice versa’ by Yiran Qian incorporates LED’s to show the time but consists of the hands only. As the hands of the clock rotate around the appropriate number(s) in which the individual hands would be pointing at are displayed. Although this meets the requirements of the brightLED design competition it’s in, it still won’t help those who can only read digital clocks.
