Spykee Voice-Activated iPod Robots
I’m not going to talk about the fact that these robots have iPods in their crotch areas. I’m going to completely ignore the pink elephant in the room and I hope you will too, difficult as it may be.

Meccano is introducing 2 new robots, the Spykee Vox and the Spykee Miss, each targeted at different genders by the looks of them. I guess it has to be mentioned. Each robot has it’s own iPod dock, weirdly situated in their robot groin areas, and are compatible with other mp3 players as well.

Belkin Podcast Studio adds recording to ipods
You can create a podcast with a microphone and any recording medium, but if you’re really getting serious about podcasting, you’ll want something portable and battery powered that has good sound.

Belkin seems to have just the ticket with its upcoming Podcast Studio. The Podcast Studio uses an iPod as its processor and recording medium. The device does not include a mic, but the 1/4-inch and XLR inputs mean that the mic of your choice won’t be a problem. It has a recording meter, gain control, and even a compressor to ensure that your recordings won’t come out sounding distorted.

Posted in CES 2008, Clocks, Dock, JVC, iPod Accessories by Darrin Olson on January 8th, 2008

JVC NX-PN7 dual ipod dockWith so many iPod accessories on the market today it’s tough to make one stand out from the others, especially with clock radio docks. JVC is making an attempt to stand out this year and unveiling this clock radio at the Consumer Electronics Show which that docks not just one but two iPods, making it twice as good, right?

The JVC NX-PN7 dock features a clock and timer and we’re making an assumption that it has an alarm that will play music from the iPod, but JVC did not mention that specifically. It would also be nice if this clock radio was a dual alarm that would play a different iPod with the different alarm, but unfortunately there was no mention of that either.

Vintage iPod tube amp & charger is retro awesome

Vintage iPod tube amp & charger

Here’s a great design if you dare to be different. The Vintage iPod Tube Amp/Charger has the cool somewhat steampunk/Sci-Fi look of a mad scientists lair. According to the manufacturer, you ca enjoy your playlists with the “warmth and richness only a vintage tube amplifier can provide”. I don’t know about that, but I love the design.

Many musicians believe that the harmonic richness and the pure tone of tube-based circuitry can’t be beat. That’s their thinking with this device. Just plug your iPod into the Vintage Amplifier/Charger, sit back with the included remote, and browse through your playlists. They claim that audio details that have been lost in MP3 files through compression, dramatically re-emerge through the 25 watts RMS per channel, all-tube pre-amp system. It will cost you a hefty $800 to find out if they are right. No doubt some of us don’t mind missing out on the differences we can’t hear anyway, at that price.
