iBoo iPod dock moonlights as Pac-Man villainiPod docks come in all shapes and sizes, but when is the last time you saw one that looks like it’s ready to eat Pac-Man? Looks like these ghosts are only available in 3 colors, so one is missing. Probably eaten by Pac-Man himself.

The dock features speakers in it’s eyes and a subwoofer underneath. It will cost you a staggering $90 for having such few features. It doesn’t move, won’t turn blue and white when you eat a power pellet, there aren’t even four of them. And where’s Pac-Man himself?

Accenda iPod Voice Controller

Posted in iPod Accessories by Conner Flynn on February 2nd, 2009

Accenda iPod Voice ControllerThe iPod’s Click Wheel is great and all, but like most gadgets, it’s really no fun to use when it’s cold outside. Accenda has a solution for your cold fingers with the iPod voice controller. Just connect it to the iPod’s dock connector and use your voice to control your iPod.

You can vocally do everything, like skipping tracks to adjusting volume without pushing any buttons. It works with almost any English-speaking user and can even be trained to work with those who have strong accents or different languages.

iPod Cases made from old 45 RPM recordsNow here’s a case for your iPod that is actually interesting and looks unique. These cases are made from old 45s, with a plexiglass window and a cork liner. You have to love this merging of the old format with the new. It just makes sense. And looks damn good.

I love how you can line up the record label in various ways and the center hole of the record is lined up with the iPod’s scroll wheel of course. These awesome cases were made by Contexture Design, but sadly they are completely sold out of the 45 cases right now. You can see why.

iDesign SongView iPod alarm clockThere’s no shortage of iPod alarm clocks on the market, but every now and then you see one that stands out. Take the iDesign SongView for instance. It suckers you in with it’s 1.3 inch scrolling display on the base, which cycles between the date and time, current song, artist, playlist and album when you’re listening to your iPod. You can actually see it from across the room.

Get it? SongView? It comes with the usual remote for controlling all the features, line out and line in jacks for external speakers and will take a non-iPod MP3 player as well. Not too bad for $99.99.

SpongeBob iPod Dock: The stuff of Nickelodeon nightmares

Posted in iPod Accessories by Conner Flynn on November 18th, 2008

SpongeBob iPod Dock: The stuff of Nickelodeon nightmaresI’ve been thinking on it for awhile and I just can’t think of anything more disturbing then this Spongebob Squarepants iPod dock. Mostly the problem is that you remove his large eyeballs and watch them roll around on the table in time with whatever music you play. It’s made more disturbing by the fact that he doesn’t even have a face, just the fleshy part around the eyes. That’s all you get. Don’t buy your kids this monstrosity, unless you like your kid waking up from mutant cartoon nightmares every night, complete with music. Video below.

iRecorder: Record DVDs to your iPod without a computer

Posted in iPod Accessories by Conner Flynn on October 26th, 2008

iRecorder: Records live content to your iPod without a computerNot every media player has recording capabilities. The iPod for instance lacks that ability. If only you could capture the latest movie or show as if it were an old time VCR that would be pretty sweet. That’s were the iRecorder comes in handy. This device will record from analog TV, cable, set top box, satellite receiver box, DVD or your Camcorder.

A normal 2 hour DVD will be turned into a 2GB MPEG4 file with no fuss. If you have an RCA jack output on your source, just plug it into the iRecorder’s AV-IN jack. It also sports an AV OUT so you can play your iPod video on a larger screen. With the USB jack, you can plug in your iPod and store your recorded video directly onto it. The iRecorder is compatible any other USB media device that can play MPEG4 files and it will cost you $190.

Jean-Michel Jarre’s retro iPod Speakers

Posted in iPod Accessories by Conner Flynn on October 22nd, 2008

Jean-Michel Jarre’s retro iPod SpeakersThere are a million eye-catching iPod accessories, but this one manages to stand out nicely. This odd looking iPod dock/speaker combo is from designer Jean-Michel Jarre and resembles something you would charge your lightsaber in that also doubles as a heater. It’s called the AeroSystem, retro in name and design.

It’s currently available only in France, and costs about $580, complete with an iPod-inspired remote. Seems to me that it’s more of a suicide station for when your iPod hears about the state of the economy or that Apple has released a new model. Stationed high atop it’s high-rise, it is free to make the decision to jump or not jump.
