OtterBox iPhone CaseOtterbox is well-known for making tough and waterproof cases for mobile phones, PDA’s, iPod’s and even cases to keep your cigars safe and dry, so it’s no surprise to see that they have one coming out for the Apple iPhone. But it is a surprise to see that they don’t have one out yet nor do they even have a set date. The company has only said that the case is still months away from being released.

The design shown here looks promising with a cover that gives the iPhone a “semi-rugged” protection and completely covers the device including touchscreen with a patented membrane that should still allow full functionality. The buttons are are all accessible by pass-through buttons on the case and plugs will cover up the headphone and dock ports which can be removed to utilize them without removing the entire case.

Incase iPhone Topo-Patterned Protective Cover

Incase protective cover for the Apple iPhone with rubberized topographic patternI was browsing at the local Portland area Apple store yesterday and came across a pile of cool-looking iPhone cases from Incase. One in particular was this rubberized protective cover that fits tight on the iPhone and gives it a protective layer from bumps and scratches without increasing the size much at all. It also provided a better grip with the rubber material.

The design on the outside is what Incase calls a “topo pattern” which is inspired from the lines showing the elevation changes on topographical maps, and it actually looks pretty cool. Of course it keeps the front open for full access to the touchscreen and has holes for the camera and ports so you can charge it without taking the case off.

These molded rubber cases run just under $30 and come in colors of …

The Cuby dock will hold the iPod shuffle similar to how its standard dock connects through the headphone jack where it can charge the iPod sync up files via a USB connection. The dock also has two tiny speakers putting out 0.5 watts. The Cuby from Princeton will retail for around $33 in Japan and is expected to be available sometime in July.

iPhone Docking station with bluetooth headphone charging includedWhile the iPhone June 29th release is still days away, the Chinese company 4Ustuff put an end to the question of whether or not an iPhone docking station will include a spot for the a Bluetooth headset as well.

Not much more than a week ago the Bluetooth headset got its OK from the FCC which prompted more questions about the extent of integration the iPhone would have with this product. Whether or not the actually docking station made by Apple will have a spot for the headset is still anyones guess, but if not we know we’ll have an alternative.

FLACTRON Re-nano titanium case

Posted in iPhone Accessories by Reuben Drake on June 5th, 2007

FLACTRON Re-nano ipod case made of titaniumYou might think a case made of titanium for your iPod nano seems silly until it takes a bullet for you in your next gun fight, and I’m sure that’s what the makers of the FLACTRON Re-nano were thinking, too.

This case fits your iPod nano snugly and safely protecting it from any harm due to dropping, throwing, stomping or medium sized explosions. The controls are still exposed along with the screen and ports so normal operation is possible, and pretty much negates the protection features, but it looks so clean and shiny.

This titanium nano case runs about $818 according to Engadget, but hey, you can’t put a price your safety. If this one seems too pricey you can maybe try to get a replica of this bullet proof iPod case.
