Walking Table Won’t Scuff Your Floor

Posted in Home by Chetz on December 13th, 2006

This table has legs designed in such a way that with a small amount of horizontal push it actually will “walk” across the room. This cool design allows the table to be moved across the room without a lot of effort by a single person and without scratching up the floor or making some amazingly loud noise. Check out the video after the jump:

This looks a little Harry-Potterish when it moves, and I’m not sure at what point they threw out the idea of locking casters, but this is still a pretty cool design. Depending on the height of the steps, it may work better on carpets than wheels would. I wonder how smoothly it moves with things on the table?

Coffee Cup Lock

Posted in Home,Security by Chetz on December 3rd, 2006

Coffee Cup LockSo you get tired of drinking coffee from the tiny Styrofoam cups that they have at work and you bring in your own cup. It can hold more coffee, keeps it warmer longer, and just looks nicer on your desk. One of the subtle things that make your day just a little bit better.

Now, after a week or so you come in to work and cannot find your cup. After searching the office you find it dirty in some conference room. Someone else had actually used your own very special cup. You may contemplate never using it again, throwing it away and just buying another.

All this could have been avoided with this secure coffee cup with a lock in it. No, it does not lock out anyone from getting a hold of the cup, or stop anyone from pouring anything into it. But, …

The Pin Clock

Posted in Clocks,Home by Darrin Olson on November 21st, 2006

Pin ClockThis is a pretty novel idea for a “digital” clock. The Pin Clock looks a lot like that pin game you may have played with as a kid, where you can put the pins on your face and they take it’s shape.

In this case, the pins are pushed out or pulled in to take the shape of the numbers to represent the current time. As the minutes change, the pins make sounds as the move in and out like the old sound of time changes on the board at the train station. The web site states that you can “hear a pin clock”.

We saw this item at Uncommon Goods, and at the time of this post they are saying that pin clock is not only unavailable, but they are discontinuing them, so you may have to look around or check eBay for this time …

Message Plant Has Secret Message Branded On

Posted in Home by Darrin Olson on November 13th, 2006

Message PlantThis might be a stretch for a site about technology and gadgets, but I think this is pretty cool anyway. This is the Message Plant, and is basically a plant that you get shipped to you in a can as a seed. You grow it and a message that was somehow stamped onto it will appear.

The plants can be purchased and shipped for about $15, and once you get the plant and add water and some sun, it takes a little over a week and the plant will have grown enough for you to see the message. The message can consist of two lines (one above the other) and up to 10 characters each for a total of a 20 character message. You can even have logos or simple images put on the plant instead of text if you want to call in and …

ChillowThis is little sleep assisting gadget is called a Chillow from Soothsoft, a pillow that keeps you chilled. Even if it didn’t work I like it for the name and the idea.
