Sharp AQUOS BD-HP1 Blu-ray HD recorderSharp has introduced the BD-HP1, a new Blu-ray recorder which has been able to cut some costs due to some ingenuity along with the small requirement of a compatable Sharp television.

The new Blu-ray recorder from Sharp can connect to its Aquos LCD line of televisions through the iLink connector (iLink on other TV’s may not necessarily work) and utilizes the televisions tuner instead of its own built inside the Blu-ray recorder. What the BD-HP1 turns out to be is basically a Blu-ray player with recording capabilities, which requires an external input.

Since the DVD recorder is using the tuner from the television and doesn’t have its own, its not possible to watch a different channel that the one that is being recorded. Dual tuners is common with many DVR‘s or TiVo type systems. However, the AQUOS televisions do not need to be …

LG HDTV with built in hard driveLG has some new HDTV’s coming your way with a nice built in feature. The new XCanvas high def televisions almost negate the need for a DVR by housing a built in hard drive.

We’ve seen LCD and plasma televisions with built in DVD players, but we seem to like this even better. Using an internal 160GB hard drive, high definition television and movies can be recorded and played back at a later date, even in a dual picture mode similar to having two tuners.

Your might soon start to wonder just how much high def TV the 160 HDD can hold, but have no fear. The new LG XCanvas televisions come with a USB port to transfer the media in or out, although we’re not sure of the format at this point.

These new hard drive toting TV’s also come with the …

That’s right; if you have an HDTV tuner you can pick up many of the local stations that broadcast in High-Def. If you’re a mobile type and travel a lot and you want to watch HDTV broadcasts anywhere with an HDTV signal, you are in luck. AutumnWave’s OnAir HDTV-GT lets you connect an HDTV tuner to your laptop or PC with a USB connection.

The HDTV-GT features a remote control and DVR features so you can record and watch your High-Def shows any time you want. A rather surprising feature is that the HDTV-GT allows you to receive QAM signals, the unencrypted cable signals that cable companies sometimes use to broadcast local stations. …

Sony Unveils 70-inch Bravia KDL-70XBR3 LCD HDTVToday Sony unveiled its new 70-inch flat panel LCD HDTV at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Sony stated that the Bravia KDL-70XBR3 HDTV is the world’s largest television compliant with x.v.Color.

The 70-inch Bravia features a 10-bit panel, which gives a finer gradient than most LCD’s with an 8-bit panel. Along with that, Sony incorporated a Motionflow technology at 120Hz. This doubles the number of frames per second that are displayed to practically eliminate blurring with fast motion scenes. The LCD panel also has a 178 degree viewing angle, so viewers can still see the picture at almost a perpendicular angle. The 70-inch Bravia from Sony also sports three HDMI inputs and a PC input to use this screen as a computer monitor, and has a shiny piano black finish distinctive of this model.

“The BRAVIA KDL-70XBR3 is the result …
