evga e-geforce 8800 gtsEVGA has introduced its version of the Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS video card and it is good. It is really good. Of course a card that costs more than some gaming systems should be good. The 8800 line of the GeForce family is notable for its support of DirectX 10, the new gaming framework exclusive to Windows Vista. DirectX 10 promises great graphics once the games that can take advantage of the new framework start to trickle in from the various game studios.

The Nvidia’s 8800 line comes in two flavors the GTS and the GTX. While the GTS is powerful the GTX is mightier still. Both versions are based on the same chip, the G80, but the GTS is a slightly stripped down version of the GTX. The GTS has 96 stream processors …

ati radeon uber edition with suitcaseA true computer enthusiasts will spare no expense in the quest for the most powerful or unique parts on the market. The ATI Radeon X1950 Uber Edition certainly fits the unique description. The appropriately named “Uber Edition” includes one Radeon X1950XTX, one Radeon X1950 Crossfire edition, a mouse pad, a sticker, VIP customer care card and most importantly a serialized certificate of authenticity. The certificate is signed by Dave Orton. Yes, you finally have the chance to get your hands on a certificate signed by THE Dave Orton, former CEO of ATI, before it was purchased by AMD.

Most impressive of all is that the entire package comes in a “spy-style” briefcase. Yes a real, imitation spy-style briefcase. You get to keep the briefcase!

This has to be one of the most ridiculous video card …

Where are the NVIDIA 8800 Vista Drivers?

Posted in NVIDIA,News,Video Cards,Vista by Chris Weber on January 7th, 2007

nvidia geforce 8800 drivers vista not availableIn previous articles about NVIDIA Cards ( BFG GeForce 8800 GTS and Asus EN8800 GTX ) we mentioned the fact that the only thing missing was the DirectX 10 games. That’s true but there is also something else missing that’s pretty vital, the drivers! It appears that NVIDIA has delayed releasing drivers to the general public for the N80 line of video cards.

From NVIDIA’s Vista page: ** GeForce 8800 requires updated drivers for Vista, which will be available to download when Vista is available at retail in late January..

So all of you gamers that are anxious to get your hands on this line of cards to try out the performance in Vista may want to hold off at least until the end of January. Of course if you are planning on sticking with Windows …

bfg 8800 geforce gts video cardSo you want a DirectX 10 Video card but you don’t want to sell a kidney? The BFG GeForce 8800 GTS might be for you. Not that this video card is cheap. The retail price is around $500 dollars. Its only cheap when you compare it to a card like the ASUS EN8800 GTX.

So what does five hundred bucks get you? A pretty good video card, that’s what.

While the GTX model mentioned above has 768 MB of memory (wow) this card only has 640 MB. It has a narrower memory path than the GTX. That means that fewer bites can transfer from the memory to the processor at one time.

The GTS does support SLI. But spending a cool grand on two 8800 GTS’s might seem like overkill …

Of course with new software comes need for new hardware that supports it. The next generation cards are coming out. The Asus EN8800 GTX is a high end video card that supports DirectX 10 and DirectX 9. In fact DirectX 9 support is incredible. As many games will still use DirectX 9 in the foreseeable future a card like this might be worth it to kick up the graphics on today’s …

Nvidia PureVideo HDNVIDIA has now made it possible for you to watch HD DVD or Blu-ray movies on your PC with some new video drivers having PureVideo HD technology. The PureVideo technology encompasses multiple features that will help improve the video portion of your multimedia experience with your PC.

Aside from just creating the drivers to support the HD DVD and Blu-ray formats, PureVideo provides some hardware acceleration to decode H.264, VC-1, WMV and MPEG-2 movies that will make images clearer than normal, and up to six times the detail of a regular DVD movie. The driver software will also help your PC run a little more efficiently when using multiple applications since it takes on some of the video processing instead of taxing the PC’s CPU and 3D engine.

“This is a milestone in PC entertainment,” stated Scott Vouri who is general manager of multimedia at …

ATI X1950 Pro

Those gamers looking for high-end features in a mid-priced video card have a new option in the new ATI Radeon X1950 Pro graphics card.
ATI’s fastest multi-GPU platform
The Radeon X1950 Pro is the first graphics card to make use of new native CrossFire technology, thereby simplifying the multi-GPU experience by eliminating the need for a branded CrossFire Edition card.

CrossFire is a graphics technology developed by ATI to compete with NVIDIA’s dual-video-card SLI technology. The CrossFire system allows two ATI video cards run in a parallel pipeline to help improve gaming performance, which is similar to how NVIDIA’s SLI works. ATI claims that their CrossFire solution will work with any 3D games or applications.

The Radeon X1950 Pro is also ready to support the Premium Windows Aero User Experience on Windows Vista. Windows Aero is the name for the new graphical user interface in Windows Vista and …
