Palm Treo 500v with Vodafone launches in EuropePalm has officially announced the release of the first major revision to the Palm hardware with the new Treo 500v 3G smartphone, coming to Europe via Vodafone October 1. The new sleek looking Treo will come in two different colors of glacier white or charcoal grey.

The 500v will be running on Windows Mobile 6 and supports Direct Push along with POP3 for email connections. It also houses IE mobile with access to Google Maps and eBay and will have Vodafone live! for accessing sports, news, etc.

The TUAW guy claims to have used an application called iASign and a prepaid AT&T card, taken it down to his UK-based Vodafone retailer, got them to recognize the sim card inside an o2XDA phone he brought with him, went back home, popped out the AT&T card and put it inside his iPhone. Vodafone Integrates Google Maps for MobileVodafone can add yet another service to its growing family of mobile applications. In a recent announcement from the mobile telecommunications company, Vodafone Live! will now offer Google Maps for mobile in addition to Google Search.

In the agreement, Vodafone and Google will develop a location-based version of Google Maps for mobile. The service is expected to offer customers access to maps, local listings, local search, and navigation capabilities. Google and Vodafone are also developing a service that provides customers on selected handsets with an automatic user-location capability.

YouTube Mobile Coming to Vodafone MobilesA version of YouTube mobile will soon be available to Vodafone customers in the U.K.

The YouTube mobile service for Vodafone will include a new selection of popular videos each day. Customers will be able to upload their own content from their mobile phones, forward links of videos to friends, and search through video content.
