P1 Designed For Work and Play

P1 Smartphone from Sony EricssonSony Ericsson’s P1 mobile phone/PDA hybrid is a step forward and upward from its predecessors. Positioned in-between a bland corporate tool and something with more of a personality the P1 has a ton of functionality and features embedded into its svelt frame (which is 25% smaller than the P990.)

It’s got Bluetooth, USB 2.0, WiFi and infra-red capabilities, is GSM and 3G functional, a 3.2 megapixel camera, a built-in FM radio, a touch sensitive screen, 160 MB internal memory and a battery talk time of three-and-a-half hours.

There’s something called a business card reader which can snap a picture of your contact’s card and then instantly port the info over into the P1′s address book. S500 mobile phone from Sony Ericsson“Small details” are what set these phones apart according to Sony Ericsson and their designers. With the S500 these designers have added some small details to a new mobile phone that appears very similar to recent Walkman models.

The Sony Ericsson S500 sports a new concept by adding more to the individualization of a mobile device. Aside from just setting themes on the display and choosing from different colors, this device can be set to change the look of its desktop and menu as time passes. Users can set the S500 to have the displayed theme and hidden illuminations change as day turns to night, as you go into the weekend or even more slowly as the seasons change throughout the year. On a little more static basis, this phone comes in colors of “Mysterious Green” or “Spring Yellow”.

Sony Ericsson Z750 mobile phoneSony Ericsson has announced plans to release the Z750, its first Tri-band HSDPA and Quad-band EDGE enabled phone. For anyone looking for a phone that can handle work and play issues, this is probably a device that you should take a closer look at.

The Z750 has a 2.2-inch QVGA color TFT display, 2.0 megapixel camera with 4x digital zoom, 32 MB of memory (expandable to 2 GB with a memory stick), is Bluetooth enabled, has a built-in FM Radio with RDS, USB ports and has speakerphone functionality.

It also has full HTML browser, live ticker and RSS reader support, Exchange ActiveSync advanced push email, support for SMS, EMS, MMS, POP3/IMAP4 email protocols, multi-client instant messaging support and has Java MIDP 2.0 so you can play some 3D games while waiting for your next call.

Sony Ericsson Walkman W580Sony Ericsson continues to expand their Walkman mobile phone lineup and feature list by now adding the Walkman W580. The W580i sports the Quad Band EDGE (850/900/1800/1900) connectivity along with music playback, and this time Sony Ericsson has added some additional new features to help with your outdoor exercise routine.

The new mobile phone supports Disc2Phone software to transfer music to an internal 12MB of storage which can be expanded with a Memory Stick card, and TrackID will identify unknown songs whether they are downloaded or even recorded off of the built in FM tuner. Some other highlights are a 2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth connectivity and a “slider” style frame.

Sony Ericsson Handsfree AccessoriesSony Ericsson announced three new handsfree mobile phone accessories on Tuesday.

The HBH-PV702 Bluetooth Headset is a lightweight and compact entry-level wireless headset that provides up to 8 hours of talk time and up to 200 hours standby time. The HBH-PV702 is available in a black or white finish.

The HBH-PV710 Bluetooth Headset offers talk and standby times of up to 12 and 300 hours respectively. This headset comes in a variety of colors and includes a neck strap that allows it to hang while you await your next call.

The HPM-75 Stereo Portable Headset is the successor to the HPM-70. The HPM-75 comes with spare ear buds of different sizes that can be swapped over for a better fit and to block out external noise. The headset also includes a microphone and call answer button on the cord.

The new accessories will be available in Q2 2007.

This new mobile music phone doesn’t quite have the thin design of the W880 Walkman, but that doesn’t mean its without appealing features. The first of these features is the quad-band with EDGE making the smartphone compatible with carriers in the US. It also comes with the Disc2Phone and Walkman Player 2.0 software package to manage and play music, and has 25 hours of music playback (7 hours of talk time and 350 hours of standby). Along with this software, we can’t forget the TrackID application that will come with this device. Sony Ericsson W880/W888 Walkman Phone ReleasedSony Ericsson today has announced the release of the new Walkman W880 model to their line up of Walkman phones available.

The W880 is the slimmest phone yet from Sony Ericsson, measuring only 9.4 mm thick (about the thickness of a CD case) housing a 1.8″ TFT display and 2 megapixel camera. This music phone also comes with a 1GB Memory Stick Micro included in the package to dispel concerns about enough internal storage space.

The mobile music phone comes with pre-packaged software for managing your audio media, including Walkman Player 2.0 and Disc2Phone to manage the transfer of music to the mobile device, as well as the playback on the gadget itself. The W880 also supports Bluetooth for streaming the playback to a wireless Bluetooth headset or stereo.

DoCoMo releases mobile phones with Touch Screen and SmellNTT DoCoMo in Japan recently unveiled ten new mobile phones to the market which will be available for purchase in February. Of the 10 new designs, two stood out a little more from the rest due to some design innovations… and smells.

The D800iDS which was made by Mitsubishi Electric is a clam shell style mobile phone with a shape not much different from many other similar products, but it has one distinct difference – no keypad. Instead of the traditional design of having a screen in the top portion and a keypad in the bottom, the D800iDS has a touch screen where the keypad would be. A number pad can be displayed in the touch screen to dial calls, or a user can simply draw the numbers with their finger or a stylus and the phone will recognize …

Sony Ericsson W44S Mobile PhoneThe Sony Ericsson W44S has been released in Japan and it’s sporting a new design. The W44S has dual hinges to add another dimension to the popular clam-shell design.

It has a hinge on the top of the phone to allow you to open it like a regular flip phone, and it also has a hinge on the side so you can open it sideways to watch TV through the 1 Seg TV tuner on a QVGA display.

The W44S also has a digital camera and a host of multimedia capabilities. To take advantage of the high quality display, the phone comes with a number of backgrounds such as an animated Bounce Clock, a Time Piece as shown here, a Train View that has the landscape rolling by, Ukiyo-e, a City and Starry Sky.

Sony Ericsson HBV-100Bluetooth headsets are no longer just for cell phones. Sony Ericsson has announced the release of the Bluetooth VoIP HBV-100 Headset kit. The Bluetooth VoIP kit allows you to make handsfree VoIP calls with your PC.

The kit consists of a Bluetooth headset, a Bluetooth USB Adaptor, and a standard charger. The USB Adaptor plugs into your PC (running Windows XP) and requires no complicated installation or configuration to work with most internet telephony software. Once installed, the adapter connects with the HBH-PV705 headset to allow you to communicate wirelessly.

The headset requires the Windows XP operating system. Headset talk time with Bluetooth phone is up to 12 hrs with standby time up to 300 hrs.

The Bluetooth VoIP kit HBV-100 is expected to be available in late December 2006.

Sony Ericsson has announced two special new phones – the K800 and K790, which are both a Cyber-shot camera phone as used by James Bond in the awaited new Bond movie, Casino Royale.

The silver K800 and K790 phones will no doubt be type casted from now on with the cool, sophisticated style of James Bond. Both mobile phones have a 3.2-megapixel camera with auto-focus, Xenon flash for lowlight conditions some cool software called BestPic, which allows the user to take multiple pictures of moving objects simultaneously and then pick the best shot to keep.

Each version of the James Bond mobile phone also comes with Picture Blogging for uploading photos to a personal online blog website and PictBridge for printing directly to a printer.

Sony Ericsson and Fossil went in together to make this blue tooth enabled BMW-100, no wait, it was the WMB-100..no the MBW-100 watch. Man did I get that wrong a number of times writing this. The MBW-100 from Fossil uses Bluetooth wireless connectivity to connect with certain models of Sony Ericsson mobile phones including the Sony Walkmans.
When the phone rings you can use the MBW-100 watch to see the caller id information to quickly see who is calling without having to look at your phone. You can then use the phone to stop the ringing if you choose not to answer. The MBW-100 also lets you run the some multimedia features of the mobile phone as well.
