Posted in Nyko by Reuben Drake on July 11th, 2011

If you have an Xbox 360, but not much space in your room, check out Nyko’s Zoom for Kinect. It’s a clip on device that allows players to stand closer to the console, reducing the amount of space needed to play games.

Nyko now has a firm ship date and expects it in stores on August 23. The device snaps over the Kinect’s sensor and refocuses the Xbox 360 motion controller’s cameras to a closer distance. It requires no extra power. Now players can stand up to 40 percent closer to the console.

The Power Grip is an ergonomic external battery that also triples the 3DS’ battery life. The Game Boost battery snaps on for an extra hour or two of life. Nyko has announced some accessories for the upcoming American launch of the Nintendo 3DS, which should help the device’s battery life. The Power Pak+ plugs into the 3DS and will deliver about double the battery life. It adds extra bulk, but has a debossed surface to improve your grip.

You can also opt for the Charge Base, which powers up the 3DS directly and comes with a Power Pak+ of its own to extend battery life. Both can use the official 3DS AC adapter for a recharge. The Power Pak+ should be available on March 27 for $20. The Charge Base will be ready soon after and should cost $30.

Nyko announces two new Raven PS3 controllers

Posted in Nyko by Conner Flynn on July 1st, 2010

I don’t think I’ve ever seen an uglier PS3 controller. Nyko is describing the feel of these controllers as “silky”. Even if that’s true, it’s like pouring perfume on a pig. The line includes a standard PS3 configuration as well as an Xbox 360 inspired “alternate” layout that flips the position of the left analog stick and d-pad for a more ergonomic feel, despite it’s looks.

Both connect wirelessly to your system via a USB dongle, and will cost $35 later this summer.

Nyko Zoom Case for Nintendo DSiWe’ve been seeing a lot of hype about Nyko’s optical Zoom Case for the Nintendo DSi around the blogosphere over the last few days. What gives guys? The ‘Brick covered this one back in June. I guess the release of the larger DSi has them all freaked out.

We still aren’t sure who would want an 8x optical zoom for their DSi, but hey, at $25 it allows your handheld to get all “mine’s bigger than yours”.

Nyko Perfect Shot Wii gun
Along with Nyko’s new wireless Nunchuk controller, the company is showing off their Perfect Shot Wii gun. There have been some complaints about the Wii Zapper being very clumsy, especially in the trigger area, so this should be a great alternative.

It’s very reminiscent of the original Wii zapper in some ways and also looks and feels more like a real gun, with a decent grip. The Wiimote goes right on top, it has an easy trigger and shoots well.

Nyko Intercooler for the Nintendo Wii

Nyko Intercooler for the Nintendo WiiThis isn’t the first Wii cooler we’ve seen and probably won’t be the last, but even after the latest firmware upgrade and hot WiiWare games in the works, needing something to cool the console down due to intense processing heat has never crossed our minds.

I guess there could be a chance that your flailing around during game play could heat up the room quite a bit, or you have the Wii running in a small, unventilated cabinet or some other odd situation so by all means if you are worried about it overheating the device runs a very reasonable $15 and certainly couldn’t hurt. It connects discretely onto the back of the console and has a pass through power connection so it doesn’t require moding the console or even needing another electrical outlet.

Wii Remote Charge Station

Wii Remote Charge StationNyko has a new charging accessory that can help prolong your game play with the Nintendo Wii game console. The Charge Station can simultaneously charge two Wii Remotes by simply resting them in the dual charging docks.

The package comes with two rechargeable NiMH batteries that provide up to 25 hours of continuous use, each. Each of the rechargeable batteries for the Wii Remote also have a rubberized coating as Nyko’s way of helping players keep a better grip on their controllers.

Even though this charging station will charge up both batteries at the same time it takes a big eight hours for them to take on a full charge, which seems a little long to us. Of course if you do end up draining both of them after 25 hours of continuous Wii Sports action you’re probably due for at least an eight …
