NEC has added a new LCD to its line up called the MultiSync EX231Wp. It’s for the desktop, offering 23-inches of space in a thin and light package. It will save you alot of desk space, that’s for sure.

It’s LED backlit to save power and has full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution. It consumes 27W of power when in use and has DisplayPort and DVI inputs, a USB port and a fully adjustable stand with 110mm of height adjust, tilt, swivel, and pivot. The EX231Wp ships in July for $319.

NEC is launching a new Windows 7 tablet in Japan. The tablet is powered by a fast 1.5GHz Oak Trail Atom Z670 processor and it is called the NEC VersaPro VK15V/TM-C. Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 32Bit is running the show.

Other features include 2GB of DDR2 RAM, 64GB Solid State Drive (SSD), Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, HDMI, an SDHC card slot and a 10.1-inch (1280 x 800) display. The NEC VersaPro VK15V/TM-C Windows 7 tablet will be available starting next month. No info on pricing yet though.

Who is this sexy and slim beauty in white? Why it’s the Nec Medias N-04C and it is one sexy and slim Japanese Android Smartphone. Good news. It will be available in a waterproof version soon as well with the N-06C.

This new NEC Medias N-06C is scheduled for a Summer launch in Japan and will come pre-loaded with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), and a faster CPU of 1GHz compared to the 800MHz found on the N-04C and it will be available in four different flashy colors like white pearl and pink.

Graphics pros as well as serious gamers will love NEC’s new 30-inch screen called the PA301W-BK. You can also get the screen bundled with sensor and calibration software. The resolution is 2560 x 1600 and the panel used is a 10-bit active matrix p-IPS panel. The brightness is rated at 350 cd/m2 in landscape mode.

The contrast ratio is 1000:1 and the screen has 14-bit programmable look-up tablets. You get dual DVI-D and DisplayPort and the screen supports two PCs with PiP capability. There’s also an ambient light sensor to adjust brightness according to the room. The screen sells for $2299 and the screen with calibration gear is $2549.

We have some pictures of NEC’s upcoming Android phone, which is super skinny. The NEC Medias is just 7.7mm thick all the way from the top to the bottom, not just in one area, like the Xperia Arc is. The phone will weigh just 105g, with a 4″ (854 x 480) display and an 800MHz processor.

Other features include a 5.1 megapixel camera, digital TV tuner and an e-wallet function. It will run on Android 2.2 and we aren’t holding our breath waiting for this one in the US. So, how did they get it so thin?

NEC has just announced the LifeTouch Note, an Android powered netbook that comes with Android 2.2 Froyo and features a 7 inch LCD resistive touchscreen display and a QWERTY keyboard. The NEC LifeTouch Note also includes an NVIDIA Tegra 250 2-core 1GHz processor, 8GB of built in storage, and a two megapixel camera.

The NEC LifeTouch Note also features 802.11 b/g WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, GPS, an SDHC card slot, a USB 2.0 port, and 3G connectivity.

NEC has announced their latest new all-in-one 3D desktop PC, the ValueStar VW970/DS. This all-in-one is based on Intel’s new Sandy Bridge platform. The space-saving machine features a 23-inch 1920 x 1080 3D monitor and a 2.7GHz Intel Core i7-2620M processor.

Other features include a 1GB GeForce GT425M graphics card, 8GB of RAM, up to a 2TB hard drive, a Blu-ray drive, a TV tuner, a card reader, WiFi, an HDMI port and two USB 3.0 ports. Pricing and availability info are still unknown at the moment, but hopefully we will learn more soon.

NEC recently unveiled their latest dual-screen Android tablet, the ‘LT-W Cloud Communicator’ at CES 2011. The device is powered by a 1GHz ARM Cortex processor and has two 7-inch 800 x 600 TFT LCD touchscreen displays.

Other specs include a 3.0-megapixel camera with 720p HD video recording, an SDHC card slot, GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, 3G or 4G (optional), an accelerometer sensor, two USB ports and it runs on Android 2.1.

NEC has developed a new technology that makes it possible to quickly change low-res analog video to HD video. According to NEC, the existing solutions available require one full month to convert one hour of analog video images into HD images.

This new method is up to 17 times faster than conventional ones. The company’s new image processing technology changes one hour of analog into HD video in only 10 hours. Video material recorded on analog video could be remastered and shown in HD using this solution. Unclear images recorded on non-HD security cameras could also be sharpened this way.

NEC’s new MultiSync EX231W is looking pretty sleek. This 23-inch monitor weighs just 9.3 pounds, has an ultraslim bezel (14.6mm) and a native 1920 x 1080 screen resolution, and it also features 250 nits of brightness, 25,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and an ECO mode that consumes just 16 watts.

There’s also DVI and DisplayPort options and a USB pass-through on the top of the monitor that enables quick webcam or flash drive connections. You also get an ambient light sensor, carbon savings meter, touch-sensitive on-screen controls, four-way adjustable stand and an intelligent power manager.

NEC has something new in the 23-inch monitor category. The latest model includes a DisplayPort with a full 1080p resolution and ambient light sensor. The E231W consumes less power (28W) and less money to buy at $299 than it’s predecessor.

It features 250 nits of brightness, a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, 4-way adjustability (height, tilt, swivel, and pivot), and a 3-year warranty. Availability of this latest MultiSync monitor is scheduled for later this month. Will you be buying?

Professional users have much different needs than the consumer when it comes to the LCD they use for their computer. The professional designer needs to know that the color seen on the screen is the color that will be printed in the finished image or document.

For the pro level user NEC has a new LCD called the MultiSync PA271W that has a 10-bit p-IPS panel sporting a 2560 x 1440 resolution on the 27-inch screen. Other than the big screen, the LCD has a wide color gamut.

NEC is readying their LaVie S notebooks, which are strong enough for a man but made for a woman. They reportedly come with a Core i5 CPU option. The ‘S’ stands for ‘Slim’ since they are just 35mm thin and weigh in at 2.4kg.

Three models will be launched. The LS150, the LS350, and the LS550: priced at 1,15,000 yen($1250), 1,31,500 yen ($1430) and 1,50,000 yen ($1,631). The LS550/AS6 comes with the Core i5-430M (2.26GHz, built-in video circuitry), an HM55 Express Chipset, 4GB Memory, a 500GB HDD, DVD writer, and a 15.6–inch LED backlit, low-reflection LCD.

NEC has been making displays for computers and digital signage for years. The company of late has been focusing on new green displays that sip power and save money on utility bills. The company has unveiled a new large format display called the P521.

The new display is a 52-inch unit with a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 and a 2000:1 contrast ratio. The LCD has a brightness of 700 cd/m2 and has integrated thermal controls and a timer to turn it off when not needed.

I am a big fan of large displays in the living room and for my computer. However, there are uses for displays that have nothing to do with computer work or home theater. NEC has unveiled its latest large screen display that is aimed at the digital signage industry called the P701.

The huge screen measures 70-inches diagonally and supports full 1080p resolution. The contrast ratio is 2000:1 and the screen has an average brightness of 420 cd/m2. NEC integrates thermal tech to shut the display down if it overheats to prevent damage.
