Logitech Harmony 1100 Universal Remote

Posted in Logitech by Conner Flynn on January 6th, 2009

Logitech Harmony 1100 Universal RemoteThe Harmony 1100 is showing itself off in Las Vegas, and the main selling point is the customizable, 3.5-inch QVGA full-color touchscreen. Buttons are so last century. You push them, sometimes they click, sometimes they don’t. Touching a panel is so much more sexy to up your volume and change channels.

It’s a good looking device. The unit features a rechargeable battery and RF capabilities, and a guided online setup makes programming simple. You want one don’t you? Sorry. It’s not shipping to the US and Europe until next month, when it will cost you $499.99.

Logitech G13 gameboard complements keyboard and mouse

Posted in Logitech by Shane McGlaun on December 10th, 2008

Logitech G13 GamepadThere have been gamepads on the market for a long time now from Saitek and Belkin to name a couple. The idea behind a gamepad is to place fewer keys in an arrangement that makes them easier to reach and removes extra keys not needed when gaming. The reality of a game pad is that you often end up having to use it and the keyboard to play complex games needing many keys.

Logitech has announced its first entry into the gamepad market with the G13. According to Logitech, the gamepad is intended to complement the mouse and keyboard, ideally the Logitech G15 keyboard and G9 mouse. The G13 offers three game modes with 25 programmable keys each and a programmable analog stick.

Logitech Comfort LapdeskThere are still lots of laptop users that like to use their laptops actually sitting in their lap rather than a table or desk. The problem is that some laptops put out enough heat to roast your chestnuts after a bit of use.

Logitech has announced a new lapdesk called the Comfort Lapdesk for Notebooks that promises to prevent the heat from the computer from being an issue for the user and lift the screen up to a more comfortable viewing height.

Posted in Logitech by Shane McGlaun on December 5th, 2008

Logitech G9 ID GripWhen it comes to peripherals for PC gaming, normal mice and keyboards that ship with computers today really don’t cut it. Gamers need peripherals with more performance and customization options. Gaming with a normal 800 dpi mouse is not what gamers really want.

Back at E3 2007 I first laid eyes on the Logitech G9 gaming mouse. The mouse offered some interesting features including very high resolution for excellent sensitivity and customization with interchangeable grips to change the look and feel of the mouse. At the time, Logitech said that it would be introducing additional grips with different shapes and customized artwork.

Logitech diNovo Mac EditionI remember when the original Logitech diNovo Edge keyboard came out. The keyboard was thin, very attractive and offered excellent typing feel. The problem was that it lacked any Mac specific keys making hard-core Mac fans stay away from the diNovo line.

Logitech announced today that its diNovo Mac edition keyboard is now available to purchase for $99.99. The keyboard has the same thin .87-inch profile the Edge had that made it so comfortable to type on. Logitech also uses its PerfectStroke key system on the Mac edition with longer travel and great typing feel.

Logitech Z-5 Omnidirectional SpeakersIf you are a fan of digital music on your notebook or desktop computer, you have probably noticed that not all speakers are created equal. You can listen to music privately with a headset, but if you want room-filling music, you need a good set of external speakers. The problem is that not every room or desk has the space for a big speaker system.

Logitech announced a new speaker system for use with both PC and Mac systems called the Z-5 Omnidirectional Stereo Speakers. The omnidirectional speakers don’t project sound along one single path. Rather, the omnidirectional design projects sound in a complete circle around the speakers.

Posted in Logitech by Shane McGlaun on September 2nd, 2008

Logitech Illuminated KeyboardIf you have ever tried to work in a dark room you know that it can be hard to find all the keys on the keyboard. This is especially hard for the non-touch typist. Many gaming keyboards now feature backlighting, but backlighting is not something seen on most general use keyboards.

Logitech has announced a new general use keyboard that features full backlighting called the Logitech Illuminated Keyboard. The keyboard uses the Logitech PerfectStroke key system for good feedback and typing.

Logitech di Novo for Notebooks announced

Posted in Logitech by Shane McGlaun on September 2nd, 2008

di Novo Edge Notebook KeyboardOne of the best Logitech keyboards I have used is the di Novo Edge. The keyboard is thin and has fantastic battery life. I often used the keyboard with my notebook when on the go thanks to its thin design, but it was still a bit large for a notebook keyboard.

Logitech has announced a new keyboard today called the di Novo Keyboard for Notebooks. The keyboard looks similar to the di Novo Edge with a thin profile and aluminum on the wrist rest. The di Novo for notebooks is 17.01″ L x 6.81″ W x 0.87″ H and weighs 1.98 pounds with four AAA batteries.

Logitech Squeezebox BoomWhen I was growing up if you wanted music in different rooms of your house, it meant fighting over CDs with your siblings and owning multiple stereo systems. Thankfully, today most people buy their music digitally and network media players allow us to stream tunes wirelessly throughout the house to multiple users.

Logitech announced its latest Squeezebox model called the Boom all-in-one network music player. The Boom has an integrated amp, high-performance speakers, and simplified setup. All that is needed to set the Boom up is an AC outlet and a wireless network.

Logitech Speed Force WirelessThere’s no denying that playing the Nintendo Wii is very fun with its unique control method. The one thing I don’t like playing on the Wii is driving games. I don’t care for steering the vehicle with the Wii remote turned sideways. I have wished for a real steering wheel on more than one occasion and Logitech has finally made my wish come true.

Logitech has announced the first force feedback wheel ever for the Nintendo Wii. The racing wheel is called the Logitech Speed Force Wireless racing wheel and is licensed by Nintendo. The wheel is easy to set up and store thanks to one-piece design that does not use pedals. Controls for brake and throttle are located on the wheel. Logitech equipped the wheel with an expandable lap rest that allows you to play while sitting on a chair or couch.

Logitech diNovo Edge MacLogitech launched the diNovo Edge for Windows computers a long time ago, and it is one of the best keyboards ever from Logitech in the opinion of many users. I used one exclusively for a long time until I got tired of changing it out for my gaming keyboard every time I wanted to play a video game.

Mac users are being embraced by Logitech with a new version of the diNovo Edge designed specifically for the Mac. The keyboard is called the Logitech diNovo Edge Mac Edition and it is the first diNovo keyboard designed specifically for the Mac. The Mac edition of the Edge has all the features the original Edge offered including semi-translucent Plexiglas on the frame, orange backlighting, and a very thin 0.5-inch profile.
