Lenovo ThinkVision L190x offers 6.6mm bezel

Lenovo ThinkVision L190xLenovo unveiled five new PC monitors designed for business users today, including one which is very environmentally friendly. The one drawing our eye the most though is the ThinkVision L190x, priced at around $380 and showcasing the slimmest bezel in the industry.

The ThinkVision L190x is a 19-inch computer display with a bezel just of just 6.6mm. Lenovo says this thinness is great for multiple monitor environments, letting one pair two of these monitors to provide “more than twice the viewing area of a 27-inch monitor.” It also comes with four USB ports to act as a hub for a variety of devices.

Lenovo to Load Laptops with Linux

Lenovo preloading Linux on their laptopsLenovo has announced that they will begin offering the Linux operating system pre-loaded on ThinkPad notebooks by the end of this year. The company will be loading the SUSE flavor of Linux, specifically Novell’s SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10. The Linux OS will be loaded on the ThinkPad T Series targeting business customers, but individual customers will also be able to get the notebooks with the open source OS.

Through the agreement Lenovo and Novell made, Lenovo will provide the hardware and OS support while Novell will be responsible for any maintenance updates. The company also plans to have a broader selection of notebooks available with Linux in the future. Lenovo isn’t the first to make this leap to Linux over Windows as Dell has also started offering Linux a few months earlier, but Lenovo seems to be the first focused on business …

Lenovo ThinkPad T61pLenovo is going eco-friendly with its latest ThinkPad notebook computer. The new ThinkPad T61p is also sporting some other impressive features, making it perhaps worth the $1,814 starting price tag.

The ThinkPad T61p sports a 15.4-inch display and a top cover roll cage for durability. Inside you’ve got enhanced wireless capabilities, Nvidia Quadro FX 57OM graphics certified to the open GL graphics GPU standard, an Intel Centrino Pro processor, extended battery life, Linux certification and a quieter cooling system.

Lenovo recalls 100k laptop batteries

Lenovo recalls laptop batteriesDue to the potential of overheating and a resulting fire Lenovo, a global developer, manufacturer and marketer of PC products and services, announced a recall of around 100,000 laptop batteries. This marks the second recall for the company in six months.

The company urges customers to stop using the recalled batteries immediately as dropping them in a certain manner could cause the overheating problem, and until a replacement battery has arrived you should power down your notebook and remove the recalled battery. Powering your notebook should only be done through the AC adapter during the interim according to the notice, although the Lenovo states a small drop will not cause the problem. “If you have it in your hand and it goes one or two inches and hits the ground, that’s not going to do it,” Mr Gorman said. “It has to be maybe …
