It looks like Sony’s Vaio P will have some competition very soon if this prototype from Lenovo pans out. It looks an awful lot like the Vaio P. Although it looks much longer.

We don’t know much about the specs, but obviously a full keyboard and some form of leather case. Looks like there’s a pointing device in the upper right of the keyboard. We are hoping that Lenovo puts an affordable price on this so it can compete.

Aside from Lenovo’s W700ds ThinkPad, and maybe one or two other offerings, frankly, most things branded Lenovo aren’t all that exciting. That includes Lenovo’s ThinkCentre line, which is understandable as they’re not aimed at gamers

What they’ve done here is shrink the size of towers. The ThinkCentre A58 and M58e feature Intel Core 2 Duo / Core 2 Quad CPUs, onboard graphics, up to 1TB of HDD space, 4GB of RAM and up, and optional Blu-ray drives.

Lenovo does more then just laptops with an extra screen. In fact, they’ve just introduced a couple of handsets dubbed the i60 and i60s. The i60 will sport a 3″ display, while the i60s offers a smaller display and uses the additional space for more buttons. To support that larger screen, the i60 has a 1250mAh battery.

Some other features include: Dual-band (900/1800 MHz) GSM radio, Integrated media player, Built-in FM radio, microSDHC memory card slot, WQVGA resolution at 240 x 400 pixels. Apart from that, we don’t have many other details. Both handsets look like they will see a China release.

There are many environments where a computer is needed where the conditions are too harsh for the average notebook to survive and operate. In these environment users have to resort to semi-rugged or full rugged computers.

Lenovo has announced that it has certified several of its standard laptop computers including the ThinkPad X200, X301, X200s, X200 Tablet, T400, T500, R400, and SL300 models to meet military semi-rugged specifications. The computer maker also announced a new optional high brightness LCD with 680-nits for daylight use on these systems.

Some of you might consider this NSFW, even though it isn’t really. There’s no nudity. Here’s the synopsis: Some creepy guy at the office is telling a story about the office hottie and his Lenovo W700ds. He starts bragging about one of it’s features. Next thing you know they’re playing strip poker. In this case, she strips everytime the w700ds beats her laptop. Then it’s time to brag about his second screen and she strips all the way. It all ends with a joke about how big it is and a “That’s what she said” joke.

CNET thinks this came from inside Lenovo, but who knows. It’s stupid yes, and dorky. But also genius as marketing. Sadly in the real world, women aren’t that impressed with laptop specs. Unless I’ve been hanfing with the wrong women.

For a long time Lenovo only went after the business notebook and desktop market in America. The computer maker offered some consumer focused systems in its native China though. Last year Lenovo brought its consumer-focused machines to the U.S. and the firm has now introduced its latest consumer focused desktop systems for America.

Lenovo has announced its new K series desktop computer line. The IdeaCenter K220 is one of the new systems and offers Lenovo’s VeriFace security that allows users to login by facial recognition. The feature requires a compatible monitor and webcam. The machine can be optioned with Intel Core 2 Quad CPUs, up to 4GB of DDR3 RAM, and a Blu-ray drive.

The IdeaCentre might steal the show at CES 2009 for Lenovo. It’s a thin all-in one PC with an interesting design that has most of the components in the bottom of the computer. It’s a design/diet secret that allows the display to appear thinner than it’s all-in-one competitors. Whether or not Lenovo’s claim that it is, is true.

The keyboard features a touchpad and just to top things off, it comes with Lenovo’s Motion Drive Remote that can also be used as a VOIP handset, an “air mouse”, game controller and a Media Center remote. Some other features: 21.5″ Display with 1920×1080 pixels and a 16:9 ratio, Digital TV Tuner (Media Center compatible, Motion Drive Remote with an accelerometer, Intel Core Duo, Up to 4GB DDR3, Up to 1TB of storage, 6x USB 2.0, 1x Firewire (1394), and Up to 2MP cam.

It seems like it has been official ever since we first started slobbering all over it’s dual-screen goodness. Even with it’s first video appearance, it already seemed official. Then it really started showing off. They’re so cute at this age. Anyhow, the beast with two screens is now officially official.

At last it is confirmed by Lenovo, offering great performance, with a 17-inch primary display and a 10-inch slide-out panel. Details about exact configurations are sparse, but apparently buyers will be able to outfit them with high-end Intel CPUs, optional RAID HDD / SSD setups, NVIDIA Quadro FX graphics, up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM, dual-link DVI / Display Port / VGA support, a 7-in-1 card reader, five USB ports, WiFi, optional WiMAX, a smartcard reader and a dual thermal solution to keep things cool.

CES always involves a glut of new laptops, netbooks, and desktop computers being shown off and introduced. The machines introduced usually run the gamut from thin and light machines to gaming behemoths with a price tag that sounds more like the price of a car than a computer.

Lenovo has already announced four new computers that we will see this week at CES. The new machines include one of the thinnest 16-inch laptops around called the Y650, a 15-inch notebook called the Y550 and a 14-inch Y440 notebook. Lenovo has also announced the addition of instant on and facial recognition to its S10 netbook.

Lenovo’s ThinkPad W700ds is pretty damn intriguing. We want one. Sadly every gadget under our tree had just a single screen. So we were happy to learn that GottaBeMobile got their gadget-loving hands on one. They were nice enough to share their knowledge of the twin screened beast.

The model they have features a 2.53GHz Intel Core 2 Extreme CPU, 4 GB of RAM, and NVIDIA Quadro FX3700M graphics. The primary display is a 17-inch WUXGA with a 1920 x 1200, while the secondary panel is a 10.6-inch WXGA with 768 x 1200 resolution. It still looks pretty awesome to us. Dual screens on a laptop. Oh yes. We’ve been drooling over Lenovo’s W700ds, and now we have the laptop’s first widely available video. The unit in the video appears to be that of a pre-production model.

Another thing that you might have noticed is the wobble in that pull-out panel. Yikes, that thing looks fragile. It looks like it didn’t go back in too easy either. But we’re hoping Lenovo works out all it’s issues before it hits the market for real. I have no doubt that they will as they have a lot riding on this unit.

We told you about this dual-screened ThinkPad a few days ago, but now more details have come to light. The W700ds comes with your choice of Intel Core 2 Quad processors and is combined with the NVIDIA Quadro FX 3700M GPU. RAM maxes out at 8GB and SSD / HDD storage maxes out at 960GB.

The primary 17-inch screen is supposed to be the brightest on the market, and if that’s not drool-worthy enough, it sports an integrated WACOM digitizer. The 11 pound laptop starts at $3,600, so you’d better start saving your money for January it ships.

Last year when I was going to CES, I almost lost my laptop. The person working the x-ray machine removed it from my bag when I forgot too, but then didn’t tell me they had done it. I got all the way to my gate and realized it was gone. I was able to get it, but hundreds of thousands of notebooks each year aren’t retrieved when lost at airports.

If you have important data on your computer that you don’t want falling into the wrong hands, or simply don’t want some airport worker using your computer, Lenovo has a new service for you. The service is called Lenovo Constant Secure Remote Disable Feature and allows certain notebooks to be shutdown over a WWAN connection.

When it comes to storing and backing up data on the road a USB hard drive is often the best route to go. The catch is that sensitive data can be easily lost while traveling and if the data you save on the external drive isn’t encrypted anyone who finds it can access your data.

Lenovo has announced a new external hard drive called the ThinkPad USB Portable Secure Hard Drive that is available in 160GB or 320GB capacities. Both of the drives are the same size and are approximately 3″ x 5″ and small enough to fit into a shirt pocket.

Until recently Lenovo was an exclusively business oriented notebook maker. Lenovo has sold consumer oriented notebooks and desktop computers in its native China for a long time. Recently, Lenovo has moved into the consumer market in the United States and other countries as well, but it is still better known for its ThinkPad line of business-oriented notebooks.

Today, Lenovo announced its newest ThinkPad notebook computer aimed at the mobile workstation market called the ThinkPad W700. The new ThinkPad features a 17-inch widescreen LCD and brings the industry’s first built-in digitizer and color calibrator to the mobile workstation market. The notebook also uses other new technology including the upcoming Intel mobile quad-core processors and optional dual hard drives with RAID Configurations.
