JVC Victor XA-AW33 digital audio player floats in waterFor those times when you want to lounge in a nice hot bath but don’t want to reach all the way up to flick on your iPod shower speaker unit, take a look at this floater.

This is the Victor XA-AW33 from JVC, a digital audio player (DAP) that floats serenely around you in your tub as you rest and relax. The XA, or as JVC has christened it, the “healing player”, has 256 MB of memory and a SD port and weighs just 260 grams so it won’t displace much water.

The 4 AA batteries that you need to run it will give you about 15 hours of play time. Supported file formats include MP3, WMA and WMA DRM and it also has a built-in radio too so you can hear your local stations. Dimensions are …

JVC HD Everio GZ-HD7JVC rolls out its new Everio GZ-HD7 camcorder next month, giving the public the opportunity to purchase the first full high definition video recorder on the market.

Capable of recording images up to 1920 x 1080i at 30Mbps, the cam also includes a 60 GB hard drive which will give you about five hours of HD recording time. Colors are captured using three 1/5-inch CCDs for reds, greens and blues, using 16:9 progressive scan and pixel shift technology. The camera also comes with a broadcast quality Fujinon lens.

Since the camera records in MPEG2 format the videos you take on the GZ-HD7 can be copied onto Blu-ray discs (if you have a Blu-ray recorder and the software.) Also bundled with the camera are optical image stabilization technology, a host of digital connections (USB, DV, HDMI), manual controls, editing and archiving software and if you …

JVC EXAD KD-AVX2 DVD/CD ReceiverJVC has a pretty cool DVD/CD receiver called the KD-AVX2 in the EXAD line up that provides a 3.5″ wide screen right in the DIN sized component in your dash. With this design, no longer do you need to have those screens retract and end up blocking other controls, getting over-exposed to heat or cold from your vents and get bumped when they are sticking out.

This monitor is built right into the face of the receiver and allows you to set up your own wallpaper to display when its not being used. The KD-AVX2 from JVC is also ready to control your iPod with an additional adapter, and is SAT radio ready.

It also has output jacks so that you can setup surround sound quality in your card, and hook up external monitors for those in the back seat. The player allows …

JVC DR-DX5S HDD/DVD/MiniDV Video RecorderThis is a really cool video recorder from JVC with triple action recording for HDD, DVD and MiniDVD. The device can record in multiple formats, including MiniDV, HDD, DVD-RAM, DVD-RW and DVD-R, and it can play almost every popular format currently out there. The list of playable formats for the DR-DX5S from JVC include the same recording formats already listed along with CD, SVCD, VCD, CD-R/RW, WMA, MP3, and JPEG digital still images.

The video recorder records it’s data to an internal 250 GB hard drive and features 6-way dubbing, a bit-rate optimizer and high speeding dubbing up to 64x. Also, this device has a MiniDV deck built right in. The JVC DR-DX5S is a great …

JVC Everio G Series Camcorder

Posted in Camcorders,Digital Video,JVC by Darrin Olson on September 17th, 2006

JVC Everio G SeriesI think JVC has reached a mile marker here with the media for digital video recording. I remember my dad with a camcorder that took the full size VHS tapes (he still uses it), and then they went to the smaller tapes so the camera could have a smaller profile and you could still get a decent amount of recording time.

After tapes there was some time there were it could have went anywhere. The most popular seemed to be using flash memory or lately using small DVD’s that were burned inside the camcorder on the fly. Both of these options were good, but I think the JVC Everio G series camcorders (GZ-MG50 pictured) have gotten it figured out.

The Everio camcorders do not have a tape or a DVD disc spinning inside them. They have a hard drive that can be up to …
