JVC shows off thin LCD TV with a camel hump

Posted in JVC by Shane McGlaun on June 8th, 2009

jvcthinlcd-sbThin TVs are all the rage right now with CES back in January having more thin screens that massive screen sets. OLED TVs offer the thinnest screen sizes typically, but you pay dearly for the technology. Some LCD TVs and Plasma sets are getting thin as well.

JVC has introduced a new LCD TV with a 32-inch screen that offers a very thin profile only 6.4mm at its thinnest point. That turns out to be a big caveat when you look further at the specs and find at its thickest point, which is basically half the screen, its 22.5mm thick.

JVC launching full HD LCD display aimed at photographers

JVC launching full HD LCD display aimed at photographersAt first it might seem like a dumb move on JVCs part to offer an LCD display to a niche market like photographers, but when you consider that this 42″ LCD display can reproduce a far greater range of colors than your typical big LCD display (100% of the sRGB space and 96% of Adobe’s RGB space), it makes sense.

Photographers are looking for true quality displays to view their work on. There’s no price on this yet, but it’ll be available in May, so we should know soon. It won’t come cheap, but if you’re a serious photographer, it may be worth it.

JVC intros 46 inch 3D LCD

Posted in JVC by Conner Flynn on April 13th, 2009

JVC intros 46 inch 3D LCDJVC Japan has unveiled the GD-463D10 a 46 inch HD LCD TV which can…wait for it… display images in 3D. The LCD features a contrast ratio of 2000:1 with a maximum of 10000:1 in dynamic mode and is super thin at just 39mm.

The panel was developed using the Xpol polar screen system and much to our sadness requires special 3D glasses to watch the image in its full 3D glory. The 3D will look excellent, you’ll just look like a dork. The onboard speakers deliver an output of 10W×2ch and the unit comes with two 3D glasses. Though I am sure they are willing to sell you more.

Posted in JVC by Conner Flynn on January 11th, 2009

JVC’s new boomboxes with touch control, iPod integrationJVC was feeling nostalgic, so it has upgraded that most classic of urban audio fixtures, the boombox. Make no mistake, this ain’t your grandaddy’s boombox. This is a boombox for the 21st century. How do I know this? Because it boasts an iPod dock and touchscreen of course.

Even the way that you wake the device from standby mode is futuristic. You wake it up from standby mode by waving a hand in front of the system, which illuminates all of the controls and the LED display. That’s not all, there’s a bunch of gestures and motions you can apply to the touchscreen to do stuff like control the sound.
