iHome lamp docks and charges your iPod

iHome lampEverywhere you look the proof of how successful the Apple iPod is abounds. It seems like everything is getting its own docking slot for an iPod. We have iPod clocks, iPod toilets, iPod stereos and the list goes on. 1000 years from now when researchers look back on this decade they will think we all needed help getting a woody and everyone needed a place to dock their iPod.

Naturally a new iPod docking device has turned up, this time in the form of a lamp. A company called Checkolite has a new iPod compatible, docking lamp for your desk. There are three lamp models that are available in black or white colors.

Fortunately in this case the features all seem to pretty much go together, unlike the stranger combination found Mini-Fridge we saw earlier this month.

iHome has put together a clock radio that connects wirelessly via the Handsfree, Headset, AVRCP and A2DP Bluetooth profiles to give a system that integrates with Bluetooth enabled mobile phones. The Clock Radio Speaker System, as iHome descriptively calls it, has the ability to receive streaming music from your phone and play it through the 4 built-in stereo speakers. It also lets you control the playback through the system or an included remote control. The alarm clock also allows you to wake up to a buzzer, radio or the streamed music from your phone.

Slide the iPod speaker chamber apart and the iPod fits snugly inside the center where it’s protected from the elements while still outputting sound through a speaker in the end of the device. Special inserts accommodate the different sizes of iPods, and a cap protects the speaker when not in use and can be mounted on the bottom of the cylinder during playback.
