Creative readying first touch device

Posted in Creative by Conner Flynn on July 7th, 2009

Creative readying first touch deviceAn FCC filing reveals that Creative’s first touchscreen media device will be called the Zii. The name alone implies that it will be powered by the dual-core Zii processor. The filing also shows an “HD camera” logo so it’s likely that this device will have the ability to capture video and playback in High Definition. Whether or not full HD is supported, we have no idea.

There is space on the side for an SD memory card slot as well. There are two versions of the device. The Zii and the Zii Egg. The Zii Egg is for developers.

Creative Vado HD camcorder now shipping

Posted in Creative by Shane McGlaun on December 9th, 2008

Creative Vado HDWhen my four-year-old daughter was born most camcorders available still used tapes to record video. The tapes were Mini DV, not the massive VHS tapes from my youth, but tapes nonetheless. Today tapes are quickly going the way of the Dodo with most camcorders using hard drivers or flash media for storage.

Creative has announced that its Vado HD camcorder is now shipping at a price of $199. The small camcorder records in 720p HD resolution and video can be output directly to a HDTV in 1080i resolution over an included HDMI cable.

Creative Zen Moo

Posted in Creative by Conner Flynn on November 23rd, 2008

Creative Zen MooCreative is sick of living up to it’s name apparently, so why not make a swell barnyard MP3 player. Like the Zen Moo for instance. The Creative Zen Moo is in the shape of a cow’s face. They were so un-Creative that they didn’t even think to make you pull on the udders to milk some music out. This player looks like it’s pretty much a Zen Stone, including a tiny OLED display, 2B of internal memory, 20 hour playback time and an integrated FM tuner. The Creative Zen Moo was specially designed to pay a tribute to the year of the cow in the Chinese zodiac calendar for 2009.

The X-Fi changes the look of the original ZEN drastically, with an aluminum-and-chrome look that seems to be inspired by the iPhone.

This new ZEN features a nine-point directional pad to take advantage of integrated Wi-Fi. Users will be able to IM on Windows Live or Yahoo Messenger, typing without a touchscreen or a full QWERTY keyboard. Another feature of the device is that it will have access to a host computer’s own content so users can play it in another room. And an Internet-based media pool of some sort will give users access to some content at other Wi-Fi hotspots. No official release date yet, but word is it will be in July.

Creative WiFi video phone

Sometimes it seems like we have been ripped off in regards to the future we were promised so long ago. You know, how we were supposed to have humanoid robots in every home and hover cars all over the skies. Those things are coming for sure, it’s just alot slower then we thought. At least the video phone is here and getting better all the time.

Creative’s WiFi Video Phone seems just like those futuristic video phones we’ve seen in movies and TV. It will allow you to have typical audio conversations as well as video conversations. Some of the specs are: WiFi, Integrated webcam, 7-inch display, H.264 video, VOIP, Audio and video out, Contact list, as well as a Calls list. No info on pricing or availability, but it should be fairly soon.

Creative says it will be capable of holding up to 8,000 songs, 110 hours of video or thousands of photos. It offers up a 2.5-inch color screen for viewing and will let you get up to 30 hours of music or 5 hours of video playback before needing a recharge.

Creative: 25 million MP3 players served

Posted in Creative,News by Nino Marchetti on November 14th, 2007

creative-25million.jpgNow we know damm well Apple’s iPod is the big king of the hill when it comes to portable media players. More of these puppies are in the hands of listeners than we can even think about. It’s good though now and again to remember the other companies left in Apple’s dust, especially when they mark a decent milestone of their own.

Creative is in that ballpark now, we think. The company said today it has now shipped a total of 25 million MP3 players. It is said to be as well the world’s second largest MP3 player company in global unit shipments. Creative debuted ts first NOMAD flash memory-based player in 1999, and in 2000 launched the Creative NOMAD Jukebox. This was followed later by the Creative MuVo and Creative ZEN families of players. Some of these products have gone on to win various critic awards and such.
