We first told you about the WIBRAIN B1 UMPC in November. At that time, we didn’t know if we were going to see it again. Sure enough it showed up at CES 2008.

The WiBrain B1 is a neat device but the elongated shape might make some feel that it’s a little awkward. It sports a VIA C7M 1.2GHz CPU with 60GB HDD. The popup camera is a nice touch though, and the keyboard with tactile feedback split between the two sides is more ergonomic. Like all of the other UMPCs it runs on XP too.

It also has a nice little touchpad for those not too precise with the touchscreen. The screen is on the small side at 4.8 inches. If you want to get your hands on one, it won’t be as difficult as we first thought. You can get one …

Belkin Podcast Studio adds recording to ipods
You can create a podcast with a microphone and any recording medium, but if you’re really getting serious about podcasting, you’ll want something portable and battery powered that has good sound.

Belkin seems to have just the ticket with its upcoming Podcast Studio. The Podcast Studio uses an iPod as its processor and recording medium. The device does not include a mic, but the 1/4-inch and XLR inputs mean that the mic of your choice won’t be a problem. It has a recording meter, gain control, and even a compressor to ensure that your recordings won’t come out sounding distorted.

JVC rolls out new Everio HDD camcorders

Posted in Camcorders,CES 2008,JVC by Darrin Olson on January 8th, 2008

JVC Everio GZ-MG730 HDD CamcorderAt the CES show this year JVC is launching a new line of their Everio hard disk camcoders, ranging in features, hard drive capacities and even coming in four different colors. JVC is also touting this new lineup to currently be the worlds smallest HDD camcorders available at around 20 percent smaller than the previous models.

All these camcorders utilize a hard disk drive to store video and pictures, ridding the need for discs or tapes, and they come with HDD capacities of either 30GB or 60GB and with or without docks depending on the model. They all also feature an SD card slot, 2.7-inch widescreen LCD and a new touch-sensitive scroll bar to the right of the LCD screen for navigating the menus and selecting videos. This sounds like it would be nice since it still allows easy touch navigation but lets JVC use a better display and avoid finger prints all over it, as what happens when using an actual touch screen.

JVC NX-PN7 dual ipod dockWith so many iPod accessories on the market today it’s tough to make one stand out from the others, especially with clock radio docks. JVC is making an attempt to stand out this year and unveiling this clock radio at the Consumer Electronics Show which that docks not just one but two iPods, making it twice as good, right?

The JVC NX-PN7 dock features a clock and timer and we’re making an assumption that it has an alarm that will play music from the iPod, but JVC did not mention that specifically. It would also be nice if this clock radio was a dual alarm that would play a different iPod with the different alarm, but unfortunately there was no mention of that either.
