GoPro unveils new HD Hero 960 wearable camcorder

GoPro has been offering wearable and mountable camcorders for a while now. The latest offering from the company shares many of the same features of the older cameras at a much cheaper price. The new camera is called the HD Hero 960.

The camera supports 720p resolution, but not the 1080p resolution of the other more expensive cameras in the GoPro line. The 960 also gives up the expansion bus on the bottom of the higher-end cameras so it can’t be fitted with the extra battery or LCD back GoPro offers.

Diane von Furstenberg Limited Edition Canon G12 Camera

The fashion-minded among you will love Canon’s G12 camera now that it has had an aesthetic makeover thanks to Diane von Furstenberg, who designed this model exclusively for AHAlife. Only 50 units will be available to the mass market.

The fashion designer loves photography, so she decided to help gussy this camera up. This special edition of the Canon G12 will come with an Andy Warhol lip print in Swarovski crystals and a zebra print case for fashionistas.

Ricoh G700SE Digital Camera

Ricoh was showing off their G700SE at Photokina, and the updated version of the G700 is capable of using add-on modules like the GP-1 GPS dongle and BR-1 bar code scanning module. Pretty cool idea. It should give the camera a longer life as well as make it more versatile.

The camera has a dust- and water-resistant shell as well as Wi-Fi b/g and Bluetooth 2.1. It was designed for governments and enterprises, so it will cost you about EUR799 ($1,070) when it arrives in the first half of 2011.

Joby Gorillapod Video Holds your small cameras/camcorders

Joby has had its line of articulating gadgets on the market for a long time now. These tripods have flexible legs that you can bend to hold onto things like bicycle bars and strollers. The head of the Gorillapods support various devices with versions for smartphones, big cameras, and even flashlights.

Joby has unveiled its latest Gorillapod called the Gorillapod Video. The Video is designed to hold light cameras and camcorders like the Flip HD. The Gorillapod Video has a metal arm on the back for panning and has 360-degree pan and 135-degree tilt. The aluminum head is omnidirectional and the legs have magnetic feet.

Hasselblad H4D-31 camera goes all Ferrari on us

What happens when two rich and famous brands get together? Well, you get a whole new beast. In this case, the Hasselblad H4D-31 camera sports Ferrari’s famous prancing horse logo over the familiar shade of red.

It retails for just under €10,000, so only serious douchebags need apply. This limited run of Ferrari-branded H4D medium format cameras will stop at just 499 units.

Leica whips out V-Lux 2 superzoom camera

I just mentioned a new digital camera that Leica has unveiled that had the style common of Leica offerings. Leica also has a new superzoom camera that it is debuting today called the V-Lux 2 that has a design more like a traditional digital camera more than the retro looks of most Leica offerings.

The new camera has a massive zoom range of 24x covering the 35mm focal range of 25 to 600mm. the camera has a 14.1MP sensor for high resolution and can record HD video in AVCHD format. The rear LCD of the camera is 3-inches and it has a resolution of 460k pixels. The camera can also shoot bursts at high speeds with 11 frames per second at full resolution.

Leica D-Lux 5 digital camera launches

When it comes to digital cameras there are tons of them on the market to choose from. Several cameras may look the same and offer similar specifications, but even with specs that are close, they are often not in the same class quality wise. One of the highest quality cameras on the market today comes from Lecia and the company has unveiled the new D-Lux 5 digital camera.

The camera has a resolution of 10.1MP and uses a Leica 5.1-19.2mm F/2-3.3 lens. The lens has a focal range equivalent to 24-90mm in 35mm format. The optical zoom is 3.8 times and the digital zoom is 4 times. The camera has a bunch of automatic and manual modes and can be used for macro photography.

Canon outs awesome 35x zoom SX30 IS

Canon has announced a new point and shoot digital camera that has an awesome zoom range called the SX30 IS. The zoom range on the camera is 35x and it is the world’s first point and shoot with a 35x optical zoom lens with wide angle as well.

Naturally, with a zoom level that high the camera has optical image stabilization built-in. The camera is able to record 720p HD video and use that ensure zoom range to do it. That means you can get really close to the action from far away.

Olympus offers new E-5 DSLR for photography pros

I just mentioned that Samsung has unveiled a new digital camera today called the NX100. Olympus has also rolled out a new digital camera with its profession DSLR called the E-5. The DSLR camera has some cool features like a magnesium body that is rugged.

The body of the camera is splash resistant and dust proof making it capable of surviving lots of outdoor use. The DSLR has a 12.3MP image sensor and has a rear LCD that swivels for shooting pictures using Live View. The E-5 also has a 100% field of view optical viewfinder in addition to Live View mode.

Speedo unveils waterproof Aquashot camera that floats on water

Speedo used to just make apparel, but these days Speedo is a swimwear and an accessories manufacturer. The company has unleashed another Waterproof gadget to join the ranks of its previous Aquabeat Waterproof MP3 player.

The Speedo Aquashot can be submerged up to 3 meters and is shock resistant to up to 1 meter. That isn’t new. The interesting thing about this gadget is that it has the ability to float on water, which is a trick that most waterproof cameras don’t do.

Nikon announces Coolpix S80 compact camera

Nikon has announced the S80 compact camera, a 14-megapixel shooter powered by Nikon’s Expeed C2 image processor. Nikon has gone so far as to include a 3.5-inch OLED touchscreen with the S80. You can expect the Coolpix S80 to arrive this fall for $329.95 in red, black, blue, pink, gold, and silver/brown.

Some of the specifications of the S80 include that 3.5-inch OLED touchscreen display, 14-megapixels image sensor, Expeed C2 image processor, 720p HD movie recording, Stereo microphone and a 5x zoom.

Olympus introduces mju-7050, FE-5050 and FE-4050 cameras

They may not be the fanciest cameras ever, but Olympus’ newest trio of digital shooters will get the job done. The first of the trio is the mju-7050, with a 14 megapixel CCD sensor, 7x optical zoom lens, an HD movie mode, SD card slot, 2GB of internal memory and a 3-inch rear LCD monitor.

The slim FE-4050 offers a 12 megapixel CCD sensor and a 4x optical zoom, while the FE-5050 sports a 14 megapixel sensor and 5x optical zoom. Sadly, that’s all of the details they saw fit to release, but we do know that they will be hitting Japanese shelves later this month.

Samsung unveils ST80 camera with WiFi, swiveling-lens, HMX-E10 pocket camcorder

Samsung ST80 is the latest digital camera to feature Wi-Fi, allowing you upload images directly via DLNA or email.
