Sanyo rolled out today a new 3LCD projector for the educational and business markets which makes use of a dual lamp system which allows for 24/7 continuous operation. It is called the PLC-XTC50L and it will be available this month for around $7,500.

The Sanyo PLC-XTC50L features what is called the industry’s first lamp selection system. This function automatically selects one of two lamps to project from, and switches lamps based on user preference or preprogrammed settings. This system, and the dual lamps, offers up around 6,000 hours of projection, which is said to be twice as long as regular one lamp models.

Panasonic launched today a number of new LUMIX digital cameras. One of these is the 12.1-megapixel DMC-FX580, priced around $400 and available in April.

The DMC-FX580 follows in the footsteps of the DMC-FX500, said Panasonic. Key features of this camera include a 25mm ultra-wide-angle LEICA DC lens with F2.8 brightness, a 5x optical zoom and a three-inch LCD which is touch sensitive for handling much of the control functions.

Verizon Wireless today introduced a femtocell base station designed by Samsung which is for routing Verizon Wireless calls through a customer’s home broadband Internet connection. It is called the Verizon Wireless Network Extender and it retails for around $250.

The Verizon Wireless Network Extender is about the size of a wireless router box or small attache case, said Verizon. It uses femtocell technology to enhance wireless coverage inside homes where location, geography or structural conditions interfere with reception. It provides this enhanced coverage in an area up to 5,000 square feet.

MSI introduced today a new gaming laptop which is its first to feature the NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GS graphics processing unit. It is known as the MSI GT627.

The MSI GT627 makes use of the NVIDIA GPU to deliver what MSI says is well accelerated game physics and video conversion. This laptop runs at its heart, besides the GPU, an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor which can be overclocked. Screen size is 15.4-inches, while the hard drive is 320 GB.

Dell has quietly taken the wraps off a new 22-inch display said to have very solid color representation for its display size. It is called the 2209WA and prices around $300.

The Dell 2209WA is a 22-inch widescreen flat panel monitor, said Dell, which makes use of something called TrueColor to garner “deeper, more vibrant reds, greens and blues.” It offers 1680 x 1050 resolution, 300 cd/m² brightness, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 5ms response time and a vertical viewing angle of 178 degrees.

Parrot recently teamed with designer Philippe Starck to unveil some stylish and rather pricey wireless iPod speakers. These speakers are known as Zikmu and they will price around $1,500 when they become available this spring.

The Zikmu set of wireless speakers make use of both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi technologies. Bluetooth is used for both wireless audio transfer between speakers as well as audio streaming from compatible devices using A2DP stereo wireless technology. Wi-Fi allows one to wirelessly stream audio from a user’s PC or Mac.

Garmin added today a couple of new full function multi-function displays for those enjoying the light sport retrofit and experimental aircraft markets. The GDU 370 and GDU 375 are set to be available this March for around $3,300 and $4,000, respectively.

Garmin says these new seven-inch, portrait displays are designed to be viewable day or night. A variety of controls are built into these displays. For example, dedicated keys on the display’s right side have specific functions such as nearest, direct to, flight plan, zoom in/out and menu. The backs of these MFDs also have connection ports for external GPS and XM antennas, and a 50-pin connector for power/ground and interfaces.

QIO Systems announced today its unveiling of its new PANiQ wearable consumer electronics brand. This consists of clothing and popular electronics controllers brought to together to form a self-described wearable network for consumer electronic devices.

QIO said the PANiQ system includes components which are “modular, removable and seamlessly integrate into PANiQmode clothing.” This clothing works through the integration of PANiQ’s smart-fabric touchpad, providing support for electronics which include iPod/iPhone controls, Bluetooth mobile phone controls, AM/FM radio and walkie-talkies.

Sanyo has a new line up of mixed form factor (horizontal, vertical) Dual Camera Xacti digital cameras it unveiled today. These models, including full HD 60fps units, waterproof HD models and compact HD cameras, will be available starting in March.

These new Sanyo cameras will range in price between around $200 and $600. These units will let consumers record both video and digital images to SD/SDHC cards and are said by Sanyo to be thumb operable for important functions. Separate video and photo buttons offer switch between digital recording modes.

Antec unveiled yesterday its latest high-performance gaming case for PC gamers. It is called the Nine Hundred Two and it prices around $165.

The Antec Nine Hundred Two is designed to better offer cooling for overclocked computer parts. These cooling options include a perforated front bezel for better air intake, a top-mounted 200mm Big Boy 200 exhaust fan with blue LED illumination, three 120mm fans and a fan mount on the window side panel for graphics card cooling.

Sanyo introduced today what it says is the industry’s brightest two lamp projector. It is the PLC-XF71 and it is available this month for around $17,000.

The Sanyo PLC-XF71 sports 10,000 lumens and a contrast ratio of 3,000:1. It makes use of a three mirror system in order to get uniform light output from the two lamps, as well as to reduce color irregularities and get better quality 4:3 images.

Grace Digital unveiled this week is 2009 line up of Internet radios and audio network media streamers. Five new products in particular are highlighted and they range in price from around $150 to around $350.

Grace Digital said its GDI-IR1000 Internet radio improves upon its previous ITC-IR1000B by keeping the same wood cabinet while adding adding personalized bass and treble settings and 10 front panel presets. The GDI-IR2000, a step up, includes a remote control and auxiliary input for audio playback from a device such as an iPod.

Panasonic introduced several new digital cameras today from its Lumix line. One of these is the AA-battery powered DMC-LS85. It will be available in April for around $120.

The Panasonic DMC-LS85 is an 8.1-megapixel model with 4x optical zoom and a F2.8 Lumix DC Vario lens. It will be available in silver, black and pink body colors and sports a 2.5-inch LCD. The LCD is equipped with auto brightness display technology.

Some interesting looking new portable speakers were on display from i.Sound last week at the Consumer Electronics Show. The Ice Speakers price around $40 and are available now.

The Ice Speakers are designed to work with any audio device which uses a 3.5mm audio jack. These speakers are housed in crystallized PC plastic and provide an interesting look alternative to traditional computer speakers. They also glow with blue LED lights when in use.

One of the newer PlayStation 3 gaming accessories from dreamGear of late is an upgraded controller. It is called the Shadow Wireless and it prices around $40.

The dreamGear Shadow Wireless is said to be the first ever PS3 wireless controller featuring uniquely relocated analog sticks for enhanced accuracy and comfort. Regular controllers have these sticks side by side, said dreamGear, causing some in-gaming discomfort. The repositioned sticks are said “to feel more natural to the gamer’s hands.”
