Intel Quad Core 2 Extreme Chips Released

Posted in Intel,News,Processors by Darrin Olson on November 3rd, 2006

Intel Quad Core 2 Extreme QX6700Intel has gone ahead and released a quad core processor called the Core 2 Extreme QX6700, seemingly right on the heels of it’s Core 2 Duo release 4 months ago. This is the first try Intel has had at putting 4 cores into one processor, and reports have shown that they seem to have done a good job.

This new processor is just as it sounds, having 4 cores which literally can process 4 time the amount of a single core processor at the same time. Keep in mind though, that although the power is there with this new technology, only applications that are built to take advantage of the additional threads of processor will truly benefit from it. Some applications may not present a great improvement, but this really opens up the power of the ones that do.

Reports point out …

Motorola V360 – Function Over Flash

Posted in Mobile Phones,Motorola by Darrin Olson on November 3rd, 2006

Motorola V360Motorola seems to have taken a slightly different approach with the V360 compared to the slim RAZR’s, KRZR’s etc. The photo here may not look too flashy, but I assure you it is not the photo. The Motorola V360 is a nice and small clam shell style phone, just slightly smaller than it’s predecessor the V330, but not much.

What the V360 lacked for looks it makes up for with some pretty decent functionality. It has digital camera with decent image and 4x digital zoom, and the ability to download ringtones, games, wallpapers and screensavers if you would like to attempt to dress it up a little.

For calling you can take advantage of a speaker phone and enhanced phonebook that allows photos of the contacts, and you can put people on mute if you would like. It also supports SMS, MMS and EMS along with …

Dell Offers New Notebooks With AMD Processor

Posted in AMD,Dell,News,Processors by Darrin Olson on November 1st, 2006

Dell Notebook with AMD ProcessorDell has recently released notebooks with AMD processors in them instead of the Intel chips which ends the exclusive long-standing relationship Dell had with Intel. This exclusivity ended recently when AMD Processors were added to Dell servers, providing these computers with AMD processors.

Dells website currently features an Inspiron 1501 notebook which comes with a range of AMD processors, including the AMD Sempron, AMD Turion 64 and the AMD Turion 64 X2 series. At a price tag of not much over $500, this makes for a more affordable notebook for gift buyers in the coming holiday season.

This was somewhat of a quiet release for Dell, as we just noticed the AMD ad on the web site, with no big press release, parade or anything.
