Apple’s new iPad has been available for only a hand full of hours and our friends at iFixit have already started tearing it down to see what’s on the inside. They haven’t had too much time with it at this point, but enough to crank out over 20 steps and photos of the dissemblance.

Apple launched it’s new iPad tablet on Saturday, meeting long lines of individuals anxiously waiting, some for many hours, to purchase the new mobile device. The release of the iPad is the most anticipated product Apple has released since the iPhone launch in 2007, with almost as much hype surrounding it.

The iPads going on sale Saturday are the WiFi-only versions and are priced from $499 to $699 depending on the storage capacity desired, which ranges from 16GB to 64GB. Apple will release a 3G version of the iPad later in the month with prices ranging from $629 to $829, again depending on storage capacity.

The iPad devices are a small tablet-like device with a 9.7-inch touch screen (on screen keyboard) and they run an operating system very similar to the iPhone or iPod touch. They have the ability to download and play music and videos from Apple’s iTunes library, read books e-books with Apple’s new iBook application and use thousands of applications from the Apple App Store for the iPad.

Netflix instant streaming discs for the Nintendo Wii started arriving in homes today to the delight of many Wii console owners. The service allows Wii owners who subscribe to at least the minimum $9/month plan with Netflix, to watch select streaming movies and television shows direct to their televisions.

Netflix subscribers keep the disc and must have it inserted in the console any time they would like to watch streaming content, while movies sent through mail will continue as they have in the past. Once the disc is inserted and selected from the Wii home menu, an activation code is presented. Users must enter this code on the Netflix website as a one-time activation to enable the streaming service.

Nintendo Japan announced that they will be unveiling a new 3D version of the Nintendo DS at E3 2010 in June, called the Nintendo 3DS. We’ve found some more details in addition to it being a glasses-free 3D device and backwards-compatible with your DS DSi games.

These are rumors mind you and we probably won’t know for sure until the unveiling in June. There’s talk that the 3DS could have a number of additional features giving new dimensions to the gaming possibilities on the device. These include an accelerometer allowing it to sense tilting and motion, a higher-resolution LCD screen from Sharp, and possibly both the top and bottom displays working together as a single display.

Apple told us pre-orders for the iPad would be starting today at about 5:30 AM PST, 8:30 AM for those of you standing in line on the east coast. Currently, as usual when Apple has a new product being added, the Apple Store is done with a note that they will “be back soon”, no doubt with a new landing page featuring pre-orders for the Apple iPad.

Pre-orders are going to be available for only the Wi-Fi version, which would then arrive on April 3rd. If you’re set on the 3G model you’ll have to wait until later on in April. The 16GB version of the WiFi only model will be going for $499, while the 32GB version will be $699.

While the tech world is anxiously awaiting the launch of Apple’s iPad, a number questions still looming around the exact details of the device and its functionality. One of those questions which was queried directly to Steve Jobs himself was answered today, apparently by Steve Jobs himself.

The Swedish site Slashat.se reports they had sent a question directly to Apple’s CEO asking if the WiFi version of the iPad will support tethering to the iPhone, allowing 3G data access to the iPad. To this the answer came back simply as: “No. Sent from my iPhone.”

Just as expected, AT&T has made the Motorola Backflip available today marking the first Android iPhone competitor available through the carrier with more to follow. The Backflip is available for $100 with a 2-year contract or $350 straight up. So, who’s in? Or are you going to wait to see what the other four AT&T Android phones are bringing?

Panasonic announced on Sunday two new Micro Four-Thirds cameras, the Lumix DMC-G2 and a less expensive Lumix G10. Both cameras are in Panasonic’s line of “smaller” digital cameras in comparison to D-SLR’s, going without a mirror box or a dedicated autofocus image sensor.

The DMC-G2 appears to be a successor to the DMC-G1 announced in late 2008 with some added features. The Lumix DMC-G2 still has a 12.1 megapixel sensor, movable LCD screen, is similar in size and has a rubber-coated body like its predecessor, but in this version has added in a touch screen and high-def video capture. According to Panasonic this marks the …”first interchangeable lens system camera with touch-control shooting.”

On Tuesday Apple filed complaints with both the U.S. International Trade Commission and a federal court in Delaware seeking to stop the import, sales and use of some phones made by Taiwanese manufacturer HTC. The complaint suggests that HTC has infringed on patents owned by Apple with a number of their mobile handsets, all which rely on Google’s Android operating system.

The mobile devices in question include the Pro Touch, TouchPro 2, Touch Diamond, myTouch 3G, Tilt II, Pure, Imago, T-Mobile G1, Hero, Droid Eris, HD2 and of course Google’s own Nexus One which was also made by HTC. As many as 10 of the 20 accused violations involve the Nexus One, which brings up some speculation. Since Apple is targeting Android-based mobile devices with HTC, they could be gearing up to go after Google directly with the Android operating system. Not all of the patent infringement complaints by Apple involve the Android OS, however.

Today we were able to try out the Samsung BD-C6500 1080p Blu-ray player, one of Samsung’s latest line of players featuring high-definition video along with the Samsung Internet@TV. The new players do a good job of grasping onto the future of digital media by bring internet connectivity into the player and directly into your TV.

The BD-C6500 player features the ability to playback full Blu-ray 1080p HD video along with Dolby Digital sound and output it through HDMI, S-Video, Optical and 7.1 analog audio. What’s really interesting about this player however is it’s integration to the internet and online media.

The folks over at Neowin are stating an anonymous contact inside Google has provided them a tip that the Nexus One will be coming to Verizon on March 23rd. Google originally launched their first handset back in January from themselves only for $529, and very shortly after with T-Mobile for $179 with a 2-year contract.

When the Nexus One was launched the Google website stated it would be coming to the Verizon network sometime this spring but did not give an exact date. These rumors give it an exact date to coincide with the International CTIA wireless show in the United States, however pricing have not yet been provided.

Otterbox has released a couple of new protective cases for your HTC Droid Eris phone, adding to their Commuter and Impact series of cases.

OtterBox’s Commuter series case (on the right in the above photo) for the HTC Droid Eris provides 3 layers of protection with a screen protector, silicone mid-layer and a polycarbonate shell. The Impact series, like it sounds, is a little more padded to provide protection from impacts to the device and has a couple layers including a screen protector and molded shell.

Nokia and Intel have teamed up to create MeeGo, a new open source software platform for use on mobile devices. The new platform will be a combination of the best features from the two companies existing platforms and will not target just smartphones but also tablet PC’s, netbooks and even connected television devices.

This announcement comes shortly after Nokia announced that the Symbian platform was going open source and hot on the heals of Google and their newly popular Android mobile software platform, in a clear chase to regain some of their market share. Nokia says the plans for the Symbian platform have not changed but will be used on less expensive smartphones, with the more expensive devices running MeeGo.

The Google press conference we heard about on Tuesday, as expected, brought us a new social networking “widget” called Google Buzz. The new feature integrates into Google Gmail with almost no setup whatsoever and provides a way to share and keep up on information with friends or the general public.

By going to the Google Buzz website users can quickly add Buzz to there Gmail account where they can see a feed of posts from others and posts their own statuses, all integrated with the existing Gmail inbox. Users can choose to share these with just their closest friends through the application or to everyone. Google even gets users started by automatically having them follow the contacts they chat and email with currently through Gmail and Google Talk.

Google reportedly has a planned press conference on Tuesday to announce some new features to its online email service which will turn it into more of a social hub of communication between friends. The new “widget” that will be added to the free Gmail tool will allow users to keep up with their friends through a stream of quick updates, similar to sites like Facebook and Twitter.

This is not a surprising move for Google who is continuously trying to keep online users centered around Google’s tools, providing the company with more information as well as additional content and exposure to online ads.

Google could also potential integrate other online social media content into it’s stream from users, such as videos from YouTube or pictures from Picasa. It could even tie into external sources with open API’s such as …
