USB OptiWind mouse

Whether you are a sweaty handed gamer or maybe just nervous surfing the web for some reason that only you understand, the USB OptiWind Mouse will dry your hand. You can use it with the fan on or off thanks to a handy built in button. I’m sure you could even hold it up to your face on a really hot day, but I doubt it would help very much.

We’ve seen some odd mouses, but this one makes me wonder what’s next. Deodorant maybe? Even if your hands are dry and secure, this mouse just looks neat and has a nice ergonomic design with blue lights. It features an optical sensor of 800dpi and is compatible with Windows 98/ME/2000/XP .

Exmocare watch tells someone who cares

The Exmocare watch

The Exmocare watch has a sort of sporty look, but sports is not what they had in mind. It knows how you are feeling and wants to send that info to someone who cares about you using e-mail or IM. Someone like a relative of caregiver.

The watch uses infrared LEDs to measure the heart rate and its variability. It can also process galvanic skin response that signals the emotional state of the wearer. Another feature is the on-board accelerometer that detects movement. When the Exmocare watch is worn over time, it learns to recognize the wearer’s baseline physical state. That’s how it knows when your vitals deviate too much. This could be very beneficial to those elderly who do not get checked in on very often.

Doctor Who R/C K9 robot dog companion

K-9 The ultimate robot dog companion. Maybe it’s just me, but I have always had a special place in my heart for K-9. There have been many a robot dog to come onto the market, but none are nearly as cool as K-9. And he was built in the late 70′s.

You can now own this 1/4 Scale replica of the Doctor Who robot dog. He can speak 7 different phrases, has an extendable Nose Blaster(Which has blaster firing sound effects), a removable side panel as well as lights in side panel and on back. His ears even wiggle when he moves and of course his eye unit lights up. As far as batteries, he uses 4 AA and a 9V. Check out a neat video of K-9 in action here, kicking the butts of some evil R/C Dalek robots.

Infrared thermometer, no touch required

Kidz-Med Inc’s new thermometer called “Thermofocus”

You know the drill. There are really only two orifices where you can park a thermometer. One is slightly uncomfortable, the other completely unpleasant. Those days are now over thanks to Kidz-Med Inc’s new thermometer called “Thermofocus”. You can almost hear the collective sigh of relief from babies everywhere. The company claims that it is the first thermometer to take accurate body temperature readings without actually touching the body.

It does this by reading infrared heat from a person’s forehead, which yields results as accurate as the dreaded rectal thermometer, and more accurate than an ear thermometer. The Thermofocus doesn’t just take a human’s temperature. It can also be used to take the temperatures of baby formula, bath water, and even food.

MiShare: iPod on iPod sharing

iPod on iPod sharing

This could be a huge pain in the Apple for…well, Apple. The MiShare allows iPods to share information without a computer. Say your friend has pictures, playlists or mp3s on their iPod, that you would like to have on yours, but you don’t want to go through the trouble of getting out the laptop, charger cable, and iPod reverse transfer software.

MiShare makes it easier with direct iPod on iPod action. Just attach both iPods and press miShare’s button to start the transfer. It won’t disable iTunes DRM, but if you have regular MP3s you can now share away. The miShare is battery powered, and can be charged with an included AC adapter.

weapon of the gaming Jedi

It’s about time we start seeing some Jedi action on the Wii. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is headed to the Wii next Spring, but in the meantime you can get your Star Wars fix with this new lightsaber attachment. You can get it now from Play.com.

A few features are a power up/down effect for saber glow. It can also be dimmed down. It sports 22 ultra-bright LEDs and an on/off switch. You’ll need 3 AA cells to keep it lit. These are scheduled to ship later this very month. $31 is all it takes to be a very happy Jedi.

To qoute Ben Kenobi, “The light saber is an elegant weapon from a more civilized age.”

speak and surf

If you are looking to cut down on laptop accessories while away from your home or the office, the Skype mouse will help you reduce their numbers, just a bit. It’s an 800dpi optical mouse, with two buttons and a scroll wheel. Of course it also has some cool Skype features.

The 128×64 pixel LCD display on top can display caller ID and other important info. The mouse slides open to a standard numeric keypad, allowing you to answer a call or dial a number and you don’t have to use the computer that it’s connected to. You can also use the hands free speakerphone option. Basically it allows you to be on the computer and talk at the same time.

Space Invaders alarm clock

Looking like some kind of Sci-Fi shuttlecraft or pod, the Space Invaders alarm clock is a great way to show off your love for retro gaming and wake up on time. It’s also an affordable geek gift for the holiday season at just $63.81.

I for one have always dreamed of having a room devoted entirely to retro gaming arcade goodness. This little clock is a perfect addition to my fantasies. In my dreams, it will wake me up at the perfect time so I can start off the day playing classic video games. Comes in white, blue and white, and sexy black. You can check out a cool video here.

The Big Daddy Driver: lawn care & Golf in one

The Big Daddy Driver

Alot of people practice their golf swing in their yard and end up wacking their lawn due to a horrible swing. Whether you are Arnold Palmer or just some backyard hopeful, why not actually trim your lawn while practicing that swing. You know, on purpose and neatly.

The Big Daddy Driver looks like a large golf club, but it’s really a working weed wacker. It will fit inside your golf bag, so surprise your friends when your ball lands in the rough, by clearing the area and taking a swing. Runs on 6AA batteries.(Not sure how much weedwacking can be done with 6 AA’s, but I guess you’ll find out)

Review: Kone & Kurv Dirt Devil hand vacs

Posted in Home,Review,Vacuum by Conner Flynn on November 20th, 2007

Kone & Kurv Dirt Devil hand vacs

I’ll be reviewing both the Kone and the Kurv hand vacuums from Dirtdevil. These are Dirt Devil’s newer more stylish vacuums that don’t assault your decor, while remaining handy to clean up those messes. In fact, both the Kone and the Kurv perform that function very well. Unlike most small appliances, they actually fit into and become a part of your living space without screaming to the world, “Hey, I suck up filthy stuff.”

I was curious to find out which would perform better, so I divided my time between both units, back and forth. It’s worth noting that these are not intended to clean your whole carpet and replace your upright, or to suck up huge disastrous, nasty, sticky, toxic spills. And it’s not designed to be a full power shop vac. So, unto my impressions of both models.

Space Explorer lighting for the final frontier

Space Explorer overhead lighting

It’s getting easier to decorate that Sci-Fi or space themed decor these days. This Space Explorer lamp is for anyone who has ever dreamed of being an astronaut, young or old. I want one yesterday.

It’s got alot of detail with thruster lights and the required floating astronauts, along with what appears to be a space station. This is the perfect companion piece to that Starship Enterprise that you have hanging on your ceiling already. It will cost you $185. Money is no object when making your room a Sci-Fi Space scene. It’s basically one small step for astronauts and one giant leap for cool overhead lighting.

The Lars & Ivan Hybrid iPod dock

The Lars & Ivan Hybrid iPod Dock

Whoever Lars and Ivan are, one thing is clear. Well, two things. They know design and they sound like a swedish/Russian adventure movie duo. This PA-40Ti Hybrid iPod Dock is a true work of art, resembling something like a techno hammerhead shark or manta ray from some far off future. It looks as if it may even eat the iPod.(In a cool way) They even left the tubes exposed so you can see them.

They’ve skipped the built-in speakers entirely and instead focus on giving you 40 watts of stereo amplification that can power your speakers.

Mickey Mouse MP3 player with Swarovski ears

Mickey Mouse MP3 player with Swarovski ears

Lately there has been a strange fascination with slapping diamonds or crystals all over our devices. Take the Mickey Mouse mp3 player. For some reason, someone saw fit to cover Mickey’s ears in tacky Swarovski crystals. We’re all old enough to know that crystal in this case is just a pretty word for glass. Even if these were diamonds, it would be over the top.

Iriver’s Mickey Mouse MP3 isn’t new, but the bling is. This was done for the Japanese market. Only 500 units are being made for the new pimped out edition and they are going for 16,800 Yen (about. £75).
