HTC sales up almost 88-percent from last year

Posted in HTC by Conner Flynn on July 4th, 2011

HTC has moved into the number five slot on IDC’s list of the top handset makers, beating RIM and behind Apple, but the company has also had its share prices drop 19-percent since June 7th. They rebounded a bit after the company’s sales for June were 87.8-percent higher than the same time last year.

And interestingly that’s a drop from May’s figures which were 116-percent higher than the same month last year. Not bad, but analysts think they have more work to do.

LG has announced the EzSign TV 42LD452B 42-inch Hybrid TV for the South Korean market. This TV is designed for schools, offices, cafes, restaurants and hospitals, where it will hopefully provide an easy-to-use interface to help you manipulate data.

It can display advertisements, information and broadcast content all on the same screen, which should attract customers and get people’s attention. I got mine already with the imported beer for just $5 up there.

The Loewe “Individual 3D” TV is all about customization. You can choose the color of the TV’s insets for instance. There is metallised chrome, neon pink, ebony, blue, and more to choose from. If you are looking for a super compact camera, for spying or other activities, Powershovel’s CLAP digital camera may just be the ticket. It measures just 1.4-inches x 2.8-inches x 0.59-inches, and weighs in at only 24g.

The CLAP camera features a 2MP F2.8 (3.2mm) lens and will shoot images at 1280 x 1024 resolution and save them as JPEG files. You can also record videos at 720 x 480 resolution. Looks like a nice discreet and minimalistic camera.

LG RoboKing vacuum

The Roomba is pretty cool as far as robo-vacuums go, but you can’t exactly have a conversation with it. What kind of vacuum bot doesn’t even talk? LG’s latest self-diagnosing robotized cleaning assistant seems much cooler. The RoboKing VR6172LVM will cost 779,000 Won ($730), and has a low noise 48dB design.

It can run diagnostics at the press of a button and then tell you if any components are broken. But it won’t help you fix it. Oh well, it’s still progress.

Posted in Sony by Conner Flynn on July 4th, 2011

Most of us have already collected those PSN freebies when the promotion launched last month, but if you have not, you have another day to download your pair of free PS3 and PSP games, 100 virtual items from PlayStation Home, and 30 days of PlayStation Plus.

After that, you will have to pay up for your copy of Dead Nation or LittleBigPlanet and the other extras vanish as well. It all goes offline at 9AM Pacific Time tomorrow. Better hurry.

iriver P8 player shows up on Russian site

Posted in iRiver by Conner Flynn on July 4th, 2011

iriver has not updated its P series of large-screen portable media players in quite some time, so you are likely as surprised as we are that this five-incher has shown up on the company’s Russian site. With a battery life of up to nine hours of video and 40 hours of audio to boot.

The P8 comes in 8GB and 16GB sizes, sports a microSD slot, and an HDMI port for pushing HD content to a TV. We have no idea if it will ever land on American shores or how much it will cost when it does, but we like what we see.
