Acoustic Lab Zeta 2.0 speaker set

Posted in Speakers by Conner Flynn on July 10th, 2011

Dutch designer Christian M Andersen has designed a set of high-end performance speakers called the Acoustic Lab Zeta 2.0 speaker range. The range pairs good looks with high functionality. The shape helps to enhance the sound and it has a linear sound spectrum, which will provide clear sounds.

They can easily be placed on the wall or any other surface with the help of additional wall brackets. These speakers have a frequency range of 110 to 20.000 Hz, while the amplifier works in a range of 20 to 20.000 Hz.

Samsung i727 spotted

Posted in Samsung by Conner Flynn on July 8th, 2011

Some photos of the AT&T-bound Samsung SGH-i727 have surfaced. This is 80% of it. The rest of the phone had to be reconstructed with Photoshop. That’s why the perspective is off.

This phone has its Wi-Fi certification, but isn’t yet in the Bluetooth or FCC databases, so the i727 is probably still a few months from launching. It’s expected to be a mid-range handset when released. When we hear more we will let you know.

LG Optimus 3D records 1080p video at 30fps

Posted in LG by Conner Flynn on July 8th, 2011

I guess now we know why the Optimus 3D launch was delayed. Engineers were busy with some last-minute improvements to this 3D smartphone camera. Looks like the LG Optimus 3D actually records 1080p videos at 30 fps instead of 24 fps.

LG didn’t even brag about this for some unknown reason. And they like to brag. They just updated it and released it, quietly confident that word of this achievement would spread. Maybe they are not done messing with it and will announce something when they finish.

Code reveals Facebook working on a music service named Vibes

Posted in Facebook by Conner Flynn on July 7th, 2011

This is interesting. The Skype install code points toward a music application called Vibes. This piece of code all but confirms it. Facebook will be launching a new application called Vibes. As in good vibes. It connects with a music download dialog in the page, apparently.

This news coincides with Spotify’s announcement that it is launching in the US. And a Spotify-Facebook partnership has been rumored. The “Vibes” name makes sense too: The Skype deal was called “Peeps”. I think we can safely expect a launch by the end of summer. This will be interesting to watch.

Apple iPad HD with pro apps rumored

Posted in iPad by Conner Flynn on July 7th, 2011

The latest iPhone rumor has Apple not only building a Retina Display-grade iPad, but that this will be an entirely new model. The new version would have a 2048×1536 screen and get an “iPad HD” name. The device is described as a pro complement and would even get pro creative apps, which could include equivalents to Aperture or Final Cut Pro.

Take this with the usual grain of salt, but it is possible. Too soon to know anything for sure. When we know more, so will you.

Adapter Lets You Use Any DSLR Lens With Your iPhone

Posted in iPhone Accessories by Conner Flynn on July 7th, 2011

Seems too good to be true, but a new adapter now allows you to use any DSLR lens from either Nikon or Canon with your iPhone. Any DSLR lens can be attached to your iPhone: Telephoto, wide angle, macro, etc which allows for custom control over the depth of field and manual focus.

It comes with two loopholes on each end of the case to tie on a camera strap. Pretty neat even if it looks weird using this. It’s just $190 for either the Nikon or Canon version.

HP Touchpad costs $328 to make

Posted in HP by Conner Flynn on July 7th, 2011

Isuppli tore down a Touchpad and in doing so they found that the cost is $318, with another $10 for manufacturing costs. $132.50 for the display and touchscreen parts make up the most expensive assembly, which is 41.7 per cent of the cost.

The next most expensive part is the NAND flash memory, costing $45. The mechanical/electromechanical system is next at $30. The HP 32GB Touchpad sells for $599, so the markup is $271. It’s always fun to know what it costs compared to what it costs us.

The iSP210 Portable Stereo Speaker Case for your iPad 2 looks pretty sharp, matching some of the colors found on the smart covers that Apple released for the iPad 2. They come in gray, blue, green, orange, tan, white, black, red, pink and aqua.

The case will protect and also deliver “hi-fidelity” sound. The case requires four AA batteries and they have not been priced yet. Hopefully we can let you know soon.
