Kogan Agora Google Chromium OS laptop ships next week

Kogan is adding a Chromium OS laptop to its Google-powered Agora products. The 11.6-inch computer packs in a 1.3 GHz Celeron processor, 1GB of RAM, and a 30GB SSD. That’s not very encouraging, but it does have cloud-based storage and Google’s open source Chromium.

Other features include a 3.5-hour battery, SD card reader, webcam, Bluetooth, and an HDMI output. The Agora is only available in Australia for AUD 349, about $372 and the UK for £269, about $440.

Nintendo 3DS June 6 update: free Excitebike, Pokedex 3D

Good news for 3DS owners. When you get the June 6 update for the 3DS, along with the browser and eShop, you’ll also get free copies of a 3D-upgraded Excitebike and a new Pokedex 3D. The new app shows collected Pokemon characters in 3D and even supports augmented reality markers to show them in 3D in a ‘real’ environment. As real as it can get anyway.

The update also gives you the ability to port over most DSiWare games from older systems to a 3DS and the ability to download short 3D videos, like music videos, comedy, or movie trailers.

Star Wars Lightsaber Bottle Opener

What better way to open a beer than by using the force. Or at least a lightsaber. Well, now you can do just that with this lightsaber bottle opener from Thinkgeek. It’s how all of the Jedis open their beverages.

This bottle opener is around 5.5 inches long and has been modeled on Luke’s Lightsaber from Return of the Jedi. It is also an officially licensed Star Wars product. That means that you are funding one of George Lucas’ many remixes of the films.

T-Mobile announces Samsung Exhibit 4G And Samsung Gravity Smart

We know that the Samsung Exhibit 4G was headed to T-Mobile, and now T-Mobile has officially confirmed the launch as well as confirming the new Samsung Gravity Smart. The Samsung Exhibit 4G has Android 2.3 Gingerbread and features a 1GHz processor, a 3 megapixel camera on the back and a VGA camera in front for video chat.

The Samsung Gravity Smart features a slide out QWERTY keyboard and Android 2.2 Froyo, as well as a 3.2 inch touchscreen display and a 3 megapixel camera with an LED flash. Both will be available this month from T-Mobile. The Gravity Smart is $70 after a $50 mail in rebate and the Exhibit 4G is $80 after a $50 mail in rebate, both of course with a new two year agreement with T-Mobile.

Toshiba Thrive Android Tablet Arriving On July 10th

Toshiba has revealed the launch date for their Thrive Android tablet. The device will be available on July 10th for $429 for the 8GB Model. The 16GB will cost you $479 and $579 for the 32GB Model.

The Thrive features a 10.1-inch 1280 x 800 touchscreen display, 1GHz Tegra 2 dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB/16GB/32GB of storage, SD card slot, a 2.0-megapixel front-facing camera, a 5.0-megapixel rear-facing camera, WiFi, Bluetooth, an HDMI port and Android 3.1.

Ear Force. It isn’t the latest comic book to come out of a doctor’s office teaching kids about hearing through Superheroes. It’s the latest from Turtle Beach in the form of two new gaming headsets, the Ear Force PX3 and Z6A.

The Ear Force PX3 has digital signal processing, wireless game sound, crystal-clear communication and a rechargeable battery. Other features include circumaural ear cup design with massive 50mm speakers. The rechargeable battery provides up to 10-hours of gameplay between charges.

Crux Loaded Clamshell-keyboard Case For iPad

The latest iPad keyboard to hit the scene is the Crux Loaded, which is the world’s first clamshell-keyboard case that features both a remote-Bluetooth trackpad and an additional-external battery for your iPad. The remote trackpad allows you to scroll pages, re-size your pictures, play games, and more without having to touch your iPad’s screen.

The Crux Loaded can also be used to access another PC using a remote-desktop program such as LogMeIn Ignition, Jump Desktop, or Splashtop. That extra-external battery will extend your iPad’s battery life for around 7.5 hours between charges. The Crux Loaded is $249.

Onkyo TX-NR1009 Nine-Channel Home Theater Receiver

Onkyo has introduced the world’s first home theater receiver to feature DTS Neo:X multidimensional audio technology. Now that sounds like it will shoot you through the next dimension, but it just means that you get a highly realistic sound experience. This technology allows you to use up to nine speakers, creating a lifelike 3-D soundscape.

The TX-NR1009 is a THX Select2 Plus-certified home theater receiver that also features several audio and video upgrades like Marvell Qdeo and IDT’s HQV Vida video upscaling and processing circuits, and Audyssey’s MultEQ XT audio room correction. The Onkyo TX-NR1009 will be available this month for $1,399.

Garmin Rino 610, 650 and 655t handheld two-way radios with GPS

Garmin has unveiled its latest hand-held two-way radios, the Rino 610, 650 and 655t. Sure they will allow you to communicate, but they also include GPS technology, so you will always know where you are.

But that’s not all. They feature a high-sensitivity GPS receiver with HotFix and will automatically calculate and store satellite information and use the stored information to keep you updated with your current position. It will also send information about your location to other paired Rino device users as well as text messages. Who wants one?

Huawei to announce MediaPad tablet

Huawei just announced that its plans to present a new tablet called MediaPad at the upcoming CommunicAsia expo in Singapore. It will most likely run on Android and will be part of the company’s IDEOS lineup.

From what we can tell by the image above, this will be a small sized tablet, but we don’t have any hard facts. Huawei says “the MediaPad is our smartest, smallest and lightest tablet ever – guaranteed to transform the consumer’s entertainment experience”. We will know more on around June 20th.

Web site source code confirms PS Vita name

The recent rumors and leaks about the official name for Sony’s next portable, so far called the “Next Generation Portable” or NGP, are looking more legit today.

Some wording and details buried in the HTML source code for Sony’s official E3 website indicate that yes, the handheld will be officially called “PS Vita.” This corroborates what we have heard as well as marketing materials that were recently spotted.

Fanhattan iPad app unites Hulu, iTunes, Netflix

This app should make your life a bit easier. Fanhatten has launched a new iPad app (free in the App Store) that provides a consolidated view of movie and TV content from across multiple media sources. You can browse or search for content by title, genre, or actor no matter where it’s located. Current supported media sources include Netflix, Hulu Plus, iTunes and ABC Player.

The app takes users to the appropriate site or service instead of loading it within the app. You can search for your content and then it will display it through the media source where it is available. A lot of users are going to love this app.

Are you in the mood to play some Pac Man on Android? The app is available today on the Amazon App Store for free. It beats pumping quarters in the machine each time.

The app usually sells for 99 cents. And this is the full game, not a lite version. Just head over to the Amazon App Store and download it now. The game has two control methods, a virtual joystick and a swipe method. I can already hear the music.

Facebook closing in on 700 million users

Well, we knew that Facebook was massively popular of course, but according to Facebook stat tracker Socialbreaker, the social network is quickly approaching 700,000,000 users worldwide. Emerging markets are showing the most growth with a large lead.

Brazil grew by 11.4% in May of this year alone and added nearly 2 million users. Indonesia added 1.5 million users, the Philippines added 1.3 million and Mexico and Argentina closed out the top-5, adding 1.1 million users each.

OTA Gingerbread 2.3 update available for Droid X

Android 2.3 for Droid X owners arrived earlier this week, but of course it required a tethered, manual install. That changes today as the update is available over the air, completely cable-free.

We first saw 2.3 show up in March and you can now enjoy speedy navigation, a customizable dock, and an overhauled camera app. Now you are cooking some Gingerbread.
