New Dutch coins have QR codes

Posted in News by Conner Flynn on June 19th, 2011

Looks like currency continues to evolve as the Royal Dutch Mint has now released two new coins for its 100th anniversary, a silver 5 EUR coin and a gold 10 EUR coin. The front of the coins look pretty cool, but are nothing noteworthy, while the back has a QR code that takes citizens to the Royal Dutch Mint website.

The Mint has also promised a “surprise” for when the money gets official and is available later this month. And no, that surprise is not free money. Probably just QR codes on something else.
