Customers also have the ability to buy the latest Kindle and Kindle 3G models directly from Amazon.de, along with free, German Kindle apps for iPhone, iPad, PC and Android. I bet the site is extremely busy today.

PlayStation Network down again

Posted in PS3 by Reuben Drake on April 21st, 2011

Looks like a whole bunch of users are reporting that they are unable to log in to the PlayStation Network again. This after outages that “anonymous” claimed responsibility for. Sony acknowledges that there’s a problem saying that “We’re aware certain functions of PlayStation Network are down”.

They promise an update on the situation as soon as possible. But that statement was issued over nine hours ago and there’s still no change in the situation. Hopefully they fix it soon.

Pentax Rainbow K-r

Posted in Cameras by Conner Flynn on April 20th, 2011

The Pentax Rainbow K-r is pretty loud as far as colors on a camera go. If you like rainbows and need a new DSLR, then you might want to check out these limited edition cameras before they’re gone. This version is designed in collaboration with Tower Records.

The style is much less serious than your typical digital camera. This one shouts fun. Maybe they got the idea when some guys at the factory had a paintball fight one night. Only 300 of these are produced so you might want to pre-order one. Only 300 of these were in the factory the next morning when the boss came in, so that’s it. $1,100

Posted in iPad by Conner Flynn on April 20th, 2011

As we all know by now, you can’t keep Apple products down. They assimilate society like the Borg and spread across the globe, just not in large cube-ships. So it is no surprise that Apple will launch the iPad 2 in 13 more countries next week.

We aren’t sure which countries these are, but so far this month Apple has launched the device in places like Singapore, Hong Kong and South Korea. There’s just no stopping the iPad 2. The company’s international push started on March 25th.

Super Mario 3DS could arrive in 2011

Posted in Nintendo 3DS by Conner Flynn on April 20th, 2011

Okay, so you have your 3DS. Now you need a good Mario game to play on it. Well, you may not have long to wait. In a recent interview, Shigeru Miyamoto stated “I promise to do all I can to deliver the new Mario game this year”. Sadly he didn’t offer any specifics or other details about the game, but it is nice to hear he’s trying hard to get it out to the masses.

What we know so far is that Super Mario 3DS is being developed by EAD Tokyo, the guys that did Super Mario Galaxy. We will likely get more details at E3 and hopefully we will learn more about the Wii 2 at that time as well.

Amazon Android tablet may be made by Samsung

Posted in Samsung by Conner Flynn on April 20th, 2011

Rumors of an Amazon-branded tablet are back again thanks to a rumor that it had picked a contractor. Amazon is reportedly looking at none other than Samsung to make their tablet. There aren’t many other details, but Peter Rojas said he was “99% certain”.

It would likely have Android 3.0, but Amazon might be concerned with tighter limits on customization, so they could use a phone-oriented Android build like 2.3 maybe and have some freedom to customize the interface. It will be interesting to see what Amazon does with this.

According to some people in the know, Apple’s next-generation iPhone will have a faster processor and will begin shipping in September. Production of the new device will start in July/August and it will be very similar to the iPhone 4.

Toshiba dynabook Qosmio T851/D8CR does 3D and 2D simultaneously

Posted in Toshiba by Conner Flynn on April 20th, 2011

The Toshiba dynabook Qosmio T851/D8CR is the world’s first glasses-free 3D notebook PC capable of displaying 2D and 3D at the same time. Perfect for users who want to play a 3D game in one window, while doing normal stuff in another window at the same time. I wonder if multitasking like this would be an eye strain.

It uses the webcam to track the user’s face and make sure that the 3D images are delivered correctly to each eye, which is a pretty smart way of doing it. The SpursEngine dedicated image processor can convert images from 2D to 3D in real time so. If you love 3D, this sounds like a winner as you get the best of both worlds.

The PSP Go is officially dead

Posted in PSP Go! by Conner Flynn on April 20th, 2011

We told you yesterday that Sony had stopped making the PSP Go. Well, now it is official. They have pulled the plug. Sony Japan has confirmed that it has ceased production of the PSP Go and that all future sales will be limited to current stock.

We can’t say we are heartbroken. It was a bad idea from the word Go. This move will allow Sony to shift its focus to the NGP, which is expected to ship in at least one country by the end of this year. Focus is good. It leads to good consoles. It is the right move.
