Sometimes you want to share the music on your iPod, but all you have are tiny speakers that sound like crap. Well, two designers from Sydney, Australia have your back. Trembo Trunks are rubber “speakers” that will help you amplify the sounds coming out of your earbuds.

They are lightweight, durable and best of all they require no power. Just plug your headphones into the speakers and hit play. It’s that simple. Any sound played through the headphones is amplified up to 80dB and they can be placed anywhere you want, so you can get stereo sounds from them. They are looking for funding on Kickstarter, and have met their goal.

Posted in Notebooks by Conner Flynn on March 15th, 2011

If your laptop is known to overheat, then you better get a laptop cooler, before it melts down. But the problem with coolers is that every laptop gets hot in different places, and not every cooler will work for the same laptop.

The iGo Arctic Laptop Cooling Pad should do the trick. It houses a movable fan so you can make sure the right spot gets cooled, making it more effective. It is powered by a removable USB cable that can be stored inside the cooler itself when not in use, and it features an ergonomic design to make using it more pleasant. You can pre-order it now for $29.99 and it ships out on March 22.

Time Warner Cable TV app now available on the iPad

Posted in iPad by Reuben Drake on March 15th, 2011

iPad users that subscribe to Time Warner’s cable TV service have some good news today. Time Warner cable has just released the Time Warner Cable TV app for the iPad. That means that iPad users can now watch programs and movies from the cable service anywhere in their home as long as they have a WiFi connection.

Shows will be broadcast in HD, so you can enjoy Discovery, MSNBC, SyFy and other content in great quality even though you aren’t watching on the big screen. Right now, the app only works over WiFi and only 30 channels are available for live streaming, but that’s not a bad start. You must be Time Warner Cable subscriber with an iPad tablet running iOS 4.2 and higher. Future versions of the app might even include streaming without using WiFi, and the ability to set up a DVR to record shows.

Posted in Nintendo 3DS by Conner Flynn on March 14th, 2011

We have less than two weeks before the Nintendo 3DS will make its way to U.S. and U.K. shores with it’s glasses-free 3D gaming. But there’s one feature you are sure not to like and that is backward-compatibility loading times on old DS games.

The 3DS is cutting edge handheld gaming right? So it should be able to provide faster loading times, even for the old DS games. Nope. Gamespot managed to get its hands on a Japanese 3DS from last month’s launch and they compared the load times of several DS games on the new 3DS with the old DS Lite.

Ventura SPARC MGS Kinectic-powered Watch

Posted in Watches by Conner Flynn on March 14th, 2011

The Ventura SPARC MGS looks nice and futuristic and it uses a micro-generator to power a digital display. Your wrist movements feed an accumulator that provides power to the high-performance microprocessor.

The company claims that throughout an average day the wearer’s movements will turn the oscillating mass about 4,000 times. Through a set of connecting gears, these rotations are used to repeatedly tension a spring. Every time the spring is fully tensioned, it releases that force to a built-in micro-generator which generates electricity for the watch. Pretty cool.
