‘Honey, it’s me!’ is another app for lonely guys

Posted in iPhone Accessories by Conner Flynn on December 15th, 2010

If you are lonely, the ”Honey, it’s me!” app will help ease your pain. It was developed for the iPhone by Nabix and is for lonely South Korean men looking for love or something creepy. They used a cute 22 year old Korean model, Mina, for this ‘video-call’ application that has her saying all kinds of things that real women won’t say to you, while talking into the camera.

She will wish you good night or tell you to eat breakfast among other things, helping single guys feel like they have a woman in their life. She’s basically a virtual girlfriend. The app is free and the developers even plan to launch English, Chinese and Japanese versions of the app.

The iPhone’s graphics are about to get even better

We know that the iPhone can be used as a gaming platform and the graphics can be pretty decent. Well, they are about to get even better. Imagination Technologies has acquired Caustic Graphics. Imagination Technologies makes the iPhone’s GPU and Caustic is well known for 3D graphics, so it’s a great combo.

This deal could open up the possibility for very realistic imagery to reach new real-time apps and markets. We can’t wait to see what comes from this new union. It should be very interesting.

You might remember the hype about the Armada processor a while ago, where it was said to be showing up in a new gaming platform. The speculation at the time was that it was linked to the Nintendo 3DS and now we learn that the chip was used in the OnLive Microconsole.

How do we know this? Well some brave individual has torn down their unit and discovered the Marvell Armada inside, along with 512MB of RAM and other networking chips. They also found 1080p video playback capabilities, which means that OnLive can update it’s console to deliver Full HD content.

DC Universe Online beta for the PS3 is a hefty 15GB

Posted in PS3 by Conner Flynn on December 15th, 2010

PlayStation Plus members can now enjoy the DC Universe Online beta on their PS3, but first you will have to take care of the 15GB download. The PlayStation Store has been updated to include the beta, and at 15GB this is one of the largest PS3 installations yet. But the game looks well worth it.

If you still have one of those old 20GB PS3s, you might want to skip this one. The beta will be downloaded in segments, which is nice for those with unreliable Internet connections. If you have problems you won’t need to start over again.

Surc case converts your iPhone into a universal learning remote

Posted in iPhone Accessories by Conner Flynn on December 15th, 2010

Mashed Pixel has embedded an Infrared emitter into a case. So when you wrap the Surc around your iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4, and download the (free) accompanying app, you can start programming. Then you can set up your home entertainment setup without any external accessories.

The only downside is that the iPad is not supported, and when you upgrade to the next iPhone, your IR case becomes obsolete. If you don’t mind that, you can get your pre-order in now for $69.95. Initial shipments are expected in Q1 2011.

SEGA public urinal / game console

Posted in Games by Conner Flynn on December 15th, 2010

SEGA, not content with Sonic and other fun games, has a new console that will revolutionize the industry. Or at least the men’s room. Known as ‘Toirettsu’, these urinals will have a sensor target which is capable of detecting when it’s being peed on, and it will know the strength of the stream. This data will tie into mini games that are displayed on an eye-level LCD display.

You can do stuff like fight fires or shoot milk out of your character’s nose. All brought to you by the power of pee and Sega. Fighting boss battles together in a restroom hopefully not near you.

Kinect gets the Swarovski treatment

Posted in Xbox 360 by Conner Flynn on December 15th, 2010

What could possibly be better than a tablet or smartphone covered in Swarovski crystals? Microsoft’s kinect, that’s what. At least that’s what DS Styles thinks. This Kinect will blind you before you even get to use it, then take some stills of you stumbling about.

Well, I know what Elton John is getting for Christmas. This thing matches some of his suits. If you like gaudy gadgets, this will cost you $632. You’ll be picking these cheap crystals out of your carpet for eternity as they fall out.
