The Motorola Droid 2, like a rookie soldier in Vietnam, has just claimed it’s first ear. The Droid 2 used by Aron Embry of Texas supposedly blew up on him when he was getting into his car. In an interview with Fox4 he claims, “I heard a pop. I didn’t feel any pain initially. I pulled the phone down. I felt something dripping. I realized that it was probably was blood.”
He goes on to explain: “As I got into the bathroom and once I got to the mirror and saw it, it was only then I kinda looked at my phone and noticed the screen had appeared to burst outward.” Maybe the phone didn’t like his death grip?
Whatever happened, Droids are not known for blowing up in your ear.

No explanation, no cross questioning by technology illiterate reporter.. NADA… the clown gets to voice his “tech expert” opinion and we all get watch it. DISGUSTING.
If you look directly at the picture, it looks like an imploding damage done to the phone meaning pressure was applied directly at the surface of the phone. If it was an exploding from the device, there will be shatter piecing coming out. This probably done by the user and not the device itself. He claim it exploded, then how come it look like there were pressure being applied by the screen?
why does he keep using the phone? he should have been issued another one even if only temporary. regardless, if my phone “blew up in my ear” i would not be bragging that my wife took it to work and lets it ring.
Had it exploded in his ear with enough force to do that kind of damage he would be deaf unless he had a bullet-proof eardrum! (stick even the smallest firecracker in your ear and light it, see how well you hear afterwards) Also, what components are in that area of the phone? Will be easy to tell if anything actually blew up in the phone upon disassembly) (No, I am not a Droid fan.)

there was no outward “explosion” point in the images. Looks like the phone was hit, likely by his car door . . .
