Amazon could exceed expectations and ship as many as eight million Kindles this year, according to two tipsters. Analysts have estimated five million, but the new figure would be about 60 percent higher. About 2.4 million Kindles shipped in 2009, according to Bloomberg.
The claims aren’t verified yet but were supported by Amazon’s own public results. The company shipped “millions” of Kindles in 73 days this fall and exceeded all of its 2009 sales in that period.
