Tokyoflash Kisai Wasted watch

Posted in Watches by Conner Flynn on November 2nd, 2010

The Kisai Wasted is a new watch from the folks over at Tokyoflash. It’s available in black or white and sports a streamlined plastic case and a strap finished in gloss with matte detail. This one was specially designed to fit most wrists perfectly, no matter the size.

The smooth translucent lens allows you to see the somewhat spooky looking layout of the time right under it. A touch of the button initiates the twisted display and the current time will flash for a short time. Hours are shown on the outside in the same position as numbers on a clock, groups of five minutes on the inside and single minutes in the center from bottom to top.

Urbee Hybrid is the World’s First 3-D Printed Car

Posted in Automotive by Conner Flynn on November 2nd, 2010

The Urbee was designed for the 2010 X-Prize Competition. But it’s not just an eco-friendly vehicle. It’s the only vehicle that has had it’s entire body designed and generated using 3-D printing technology. The car is a gasoline/ethanol hybrid.

Only problem is, it doesn’t look very roomy. It was designed by Stratasys and Kor Ecologic and can hit 200 mpg on the highway and 100 mpg in city conditions on either fuel.

In other European countries, the pricing has dropped to 709 Euro and 999 Euro. Nothing new for us in the States, where we have to pay $699 and $999, respectively.

Chrome-powered smartbooks coming this November

Posted in Notebooks by Conner Flynn on November 2nd, 2010

Get ready for a whole bunch of smartbooks headed your way, powered by Google’s Chrome operating system. They are coming in November. Google is positioning themselves to launch their own-brand Chrome notebook in the same way they launched their Nexus One smartphone.

The first shipments are expected to be anywhere from 60,000 to 70,000 units, running on an ARM-based platform. But with all of the tablet madness, why bother? We hope they feature something to set them apart.

Samsung Galaxy Tab costs $215 to manufacture

Posted in Tablet PC by Conner Flynn on November 2nd, 2010

You plan on paying $699 for your Samsung Galaxy Tab, right? So that headline doesn’t feel very good does it? Sadly it’s the same for everything we buy. There’s always a mark-up. iSuppli claims that the Galaxy Tab only costs $205 in materials, while costing $215 to manufacture.

Cheap labor is par for the course. The most expensive part in the Galaxy Tab would be its 7-inch display and NAND Flash memory, at $57 and $51. This news won’t stop most of us from buying one, but it’s nice to have all of the facts anyway.

LG H1000B Windows 7 tablet hits the FCC

Posted in LG by Conner Flynn on November 2nd, 2010

According to a filing in the FCC’s database, the H1000B tablet will eventually hit the US market sporting 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth and Windows 7. Word is that it also has an SD card reader.

It must have one, but we don’t see a peripheral port in the pic. We are expecting a CES 2011 debut, but who knows, we might learn more before then. It looks pretty sexy at any rate.

Sprint taking pre-orders for HTC 7 Pro December 8th?

Posted in HTC by Conner Flynn on November 1st, 2010

The rumor is that Sprint is taking preorders for the HTC 7 Pro on December 8th. This is the company’s first Windows Phone 7 offering and it makes sense as it goes with HTC’s previous announcement of the HTC 7 Pro, saying it will be available only in the first half of next year. So a preorder at the end of the year would fit into the overall plan.

No word on pricing yet for HTC’s 7 Pro, but it shouldn’t be anything unexpected with a contract. We expect more leaks to slip out very shortly.
