Origin unveils crazy powerful PC called The Big O

Posted in Computers by Shane McGlaun on September 7th, 2010

We have seen gaming machines before that cram processors aimed at the server market inside for higher performance. We have also seen those machines get overclocked CPUs for even better performance. What we haven’t seen is a machine that rolls so much gaming win into one package like the new Origin gaming rig does.

The machine is called The Big O and it is an absolute beast of a computer. The machine has dual 6-core Intel Xeon X5860 CPUs that are overclocked to 4.3GHz. The machine supports ECC memory and up to 24GB of Corsair RAM can be added. The machine can also be fitted with four EVGA GTX 480 FTW video cards in SLI.

Posted in iPhone by Conner Flynn on September 6th, 2010

We’ve seen our share of coffee tables here at the ‘Brick, but this is the first giant iPhone 4 table we’ve seen. We don’t have many details, but obviously it lacks flash.

We do know that it’s a one of a kind custom piece, so you wont be able to get one unless you make it yourself. Then you too can kick off your crocs and put your bare feet beneath it, hopefully with no signal loss.

Carnegie Mellon’s robot snake now climbs trees

Posted in Robots by Conner Flynn on September 6th, 2010

The way we see it, humans have just two deeply rooted fears. Both are completely justified. Robots and snakes. Well, now Carnegie Mellon has combined both effectively and taught its robotic snake how to climb trees. “Uncle Sam” is a modular snake robot and the latest in a line of snakes from Carnegie Mellon’s Biorobotics Lab. Uncle Sam can roll, wiggle and side-wind with the best of them.

Now that it can wrap itself around a pole and climb vertically, it can therefore climb trees. Maybe even pluck an apple and offer it up to an Eve-bot. We were scared of robot snakes before, but now it might truly be time to whimper and hide somewhere and wait out the coming robotpocalypse.

Yes, this is a sliding QWERTY keyboard add-on for the iPhone 4. And it looks ridiculous. It should be going on sale before the end of the year for about $60. If it has to be that fat it should at least include a built-in battery for additional juice.
