Twitter unveils new website

Posted in twitter by Conner Flynn on September 14th, 2010

Twitter fans will love this one. Twitter is trending twitter tonight. Here’s a glimpse at the updated Twitter user interface. It draws heavily from the iPad version of Twitter, giving you a two-column design and making navigation easier. That’s not all. Photo hosting sites like Flickr, TwitPic, Yfrog, and video hosts like Ustream and YouTube will now be able to have their content embedded in a format that’s friendly to both computers and tablets.

An infinite scroll feature will load older updates on the fly instead of having to manually click for them. The updated page is going live tonight as part of a limited preview, so not everyone will see it. Everyone should be able to access the updated site over the next few weeks though.

Google TV officially launching October 17th?

Posted in Google by Conner Flynn on September 14th, 2010

We know that Google TV is scheduled to arrive sometime in the fall. Now a leaked Best Buy document shows that the original launch date was October 3rd and has now been pushed back by two weeks, pointing to an October 17th launch date.

It makes sense. Best Buy is an official partner for Google TV and these dates are close to the upcoming holiday season, so there may just be something to this.

Tokyoflash Cobra LED watch concept

Posted in Watches by Conner Flynn on September 14th, 2010

The aptly named Cobra LED watch from Tokyoflash shows the time, well, like a cobra. This concept watch tells you the time using two decks, one that shows the hours, while the other shows the minutes.

Numbers are engraved on each deck like a scale. You can view the time vertically or diagonally. It looks like it could leap off your wrist and strike.

Bing passes Yahoo, now behind Google

Posted in Google by Conner Flynn on September 14th, 2010

Microsoft’s Bing search engine has just overtaken Yahoo and is now in the second place spot for search engine’s in the US. That means it is now going to go up against Google, the top dog. At least according to The Nielsen Company.

In August alone, Bing grew from 13.6 percent to 13.9 percent of the US search market. Yahoo declined from 14.3 percent to 13.1 percent. While Google’s share went up from 64.2 percent in July to 65.0 percent. Google shouldn’t worry though. With Bing and Yahoo combined, their search share of 27.0 percent is still less than Google’s.

Dell’s Inspiron Duo is a 10″ Netbook/Tablet that swivels

Posted in Dell by Conner Flynn on September 14th, 2010

The folks at Dell are crazy, throwing all kinds of ideas out there and seeing what sticks. Dell’s new Inspiron Duo is a 10″ tablet that opens up and swivels its screen to transform itself into a netbook. But what’s the point? Why swivel when it can just detach? This is just tablet madness.

They’re saying it will be available before the end of the year. Again crazy talk. Dell may actually be innovating something here. Dell showed off this Windows 7 Premium running and dual-core Atom N550 processor packing thing at the second day keynote of Intel’s IDF conference.

MoveMen, Heroes of the PlayStation Move

Posted in PS3 by Conner Flynn on September 14th, 2010

Well, this is a bit odd. In an attempt to make you a fan of the PlayStation Move, Sony has introduced these two bubble headed dudes? They are called the MoveMen and they are stars of a new PlayStation Move ad push.

The campaign is directed by FilmFaktisk’s Lars Åndheim and looks like it is limited to Norway. They apparently fight crime with their glowing bubble heads, with PSmove controllers holstered at their side. It’s all rather silly.
