ASUS’ Windows Phone 7 in the wild

Posted in ASUS by Conner Flynn on August 6th, 2010

What you are looking at is the first Windows Phone 7 device to show up in Pakistan, of all places. The device has a serial number on top and a “powered by ASUS” branding on the bottom, so it is likely a pre-production model. The phone apparently belongs to the leakster’s brother, who maybe works for ASUS.

There’s brushed metal on the front and the top right corner looks like it might be housing a front-facing camera, also the display looks like an OLED panel.

Images of screen for iPod touch 4 surface

Posted in Apple by Shane McGlaun on August 6th, 2010

Yesterday we saw some images of what is supposed to be an iPhone touch 4 mockup and case surface. Today we see some new shots of what it supposed to be the screen for the next iPod touch.

The images come from MacRumors and the site claims to have received the images from an Apple supplier. The screen clearly shows the hole needed for a front facing camera.

Flash Rods put storage inside toy cars

Posted in Storage by Shane McGlaun on August 6th, 2010

There are more styles of flash drives on the market than you can shake a stick at. Some of them are weird too. I have seen flash drives that look like food and all manner of other weird designs.

These Flash Rods flash drives are cool and very interesting. The things are handmade and start life as a Hot Wheels car you might collect or your kid might play with.

FCC chair: Neutrality would trump any Google/Verizon pact

Posted in FCC by Conner Flynn on August 5th, 2010

According to FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski, any FCC policy on net neutrality that emerges will supersede any pre-existing arrangements by companies. This is alluding to the speculated deal between Verizon Wireless and Google. According to Genachowski, “Any outcome, any deal that doesn’t preserve the freedom and openness of the Internet for consumers and entrepreneurs will be unacceptable.”

Sounds good to us, but the FCC Chairman did not go into details if the FCC policy would include wireless or if such policy would only govern the Internet on PC and landlines.

Posted in AT&T by Conner Flynn on August 5th, 2010

Apparently the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 will be hitting U.S shores soon as AT&T is gearing up to launch the Android 1.6 device. According to AT&T’s system, the X10 will cost phone retailers $345 per device though it’s unclear what the unsubsidized and subsidized prices will be.

The launch date is said to be between mid-August and mid-July. Also launching in the same timeframe will be the Samsung Eternity II. So, call Doc Brown and get ready to travel back in time with Android 1.6.

Google and Verizon deal aims to destroy Net Neutrality

Posted in Google by Conner Flynn on August 5th, 2010

Google and Verizon are discussing a partnership(Made in hell) that could result in American internet freedom taking a few backward steps and destroying net neutrality as we know it. This would go against all that Google and Verizon have stated in the past about keeping the net neutral and open to ‘ensure the openness of the web around the world.’

The agreement could give Verizon the ability to do whatever it wants when it comes to managing wireless broadband, through mobile hotspots or Android handsets.

And now a moment of silence for this PS3, which was destroyed in a fire

Posted in PS3 by Conner Flynn on August 5th, 2010

It makes us sad to see consoles like this. I can only thank god that my own PS3 is still pristine and unburnt. Let’s bow our heads in silence for a moment.

Yes, this is what a PlayStation 3 looks like after a fire. Sniff. I promised myself I wouldn’t cry. No gamer should ever have to go through this. What kind of sick world would do this to a console? Everyone raise your PS3 controller high and hit the X button in a mock 21 gun salute.

Next-generation iPod Touch cases have a Camera Hole?

Posted in iPod Touch by Conner Flynn on August 5th, 2010

Pictures of a so-called protective case for the upcoming iPod touch have surfaced, and if they’re on the level, it would seem to confirm that the next-generation iPod touch will sport a camera, and maybe a built-in flash too, like the iPhone 4.

Take this with a grain of salt. Until Apple confirms it, nothing is certain, but remember that we’ve heard talk of a camera on the iPod touch before. Several times in fact.
