The issue isn’t just about piracy though. Many Xbox users like to burn a backup copy of their game CDs in case the original disc gets damaged.

Even so, I’m sure microsoft will be on this quickly, trying to figure out a way to prevent the hack. The group behind the video(It can be found below) claims that the patch will be available soon, which is good news if you want to backup games for your new Xbox 360.

X-Wing fighter mailbox

Posted in Star Wars by Conner Flynn on August 15th, 2010

There are Star Wars fans, and then there are Star Wars fans who bring a bit of the Star Wars universe into our own. Craig Smith is in the latter group as evidenced by his X-wing mailbox. It may lack an astromech droid, but since it doesn’t actually leave it’s post I guess it doesn’t need one.

Pretty awesome. The force is strong in this one. I would personally make a tie fighter and put it right next to this one for the junk mail.

HP’s Zeen tablet due in September

Posted in HP by Conner Flynn on August 15th, 2010

HP’s entry into the tablet arena with the Zeen tablet could happen pretty fast if supplier leaks to Digitimes are accurate. The tablet may ship as soon as September, however it’s specs would be on the low end. You can expect a seven-inch screen and the same 800×480 resolution as much smaller phones, along with just 4GB of internal storage.

Freescale is apparently supplying an unnamed ARM processor tied to 512MB of RAM, while Wistron is making the companion Zeus printer, which will have a dock for the Zeen to offload content.

Life-sized TIE Interceptor

Posted in Star Wars by Conner Flynn on August 15th, 2010

We’ve seen plenty of Star Wars ship replicas, but this one is by far the best and the biggest. This life-size TIE Interceptor was shown off on the floor at Star Wars Celebration V in Orlando.

The detail is amazing. Those Imperial builders know what they are doing. By the way that’s a lucky 7 year old dressed up as an X-Wing pilot. Hopefully his X-Wing wasn’t killed by that TIE Interceptor. But if it was, looks like he still has a ride home.

Lucas announces Star Wars on Blu-ray in 2011

Posted in Star Wars by Conner Flynn on August 15th, 2010

There’s good news and there’s bad news. The good news is that all six Star Wars movies will be released together on Blu-ray in 2011 for the 35th anniversary of the release of A New Hope. George Lucas personally announced the set at the Celebration V and showed off a deleted scene from Return of the Jedi that will be included.

The bad news is that these are not the original versions of the movies, so Greedo shot first and Jabba is in the first movie. Nothing yet on price, and there’s no release date.

Curved DSLR concept

Posted in Concepts by Conner Flynn on August 14th, 2010

It’s safe to say that we’ve never seen a DSLR like this before. All DSLR cameras on the market look quite similar, but Yaniv Berg has a DSLR camera design that looks…different. Like an old army flashlight or curved pipe.

The design of this camera makes it easy for the user to take photos at some strange angles. In fact, you would be tempted to say “Up periscope” every time you snapped a pic. You would definitely stand out from the crowd.
