Posted in Samsung by Conner Flynn on July 9th, 2010

Samsung has released a new Windows Mobile 6.5 update for its Epix (SGH-i907) handset. This is strange because AT&T no longer sells this smartphone over its website. And a Samsung phone getting updated?

Samsung Galaxy i7500 users are still waiting for an Android 1.6 update, while Android 2.2 is already available for select handsets. Anyhow, strange as it is, you can download the software if you own the Epix. Which you probably don’t.

Is this the new iPod Shuffle?

Posted in Apple by Conner Flynn on July 9th, 2010

The folks at tw.apple.pro say that this photo comes from “deep inside the throat”(Google Translate). So we are guessing they mean a deep throat like source within the company. It’s a 1.2inch x 1.2inch screen which could be the next iPod Shuffle.

The component is marked “Apple,” and there’s no reason to believe it isn’t legit. But just how would you operate a 1-inch touchscreen? What could you really accomplish on a screen so small?

Folding Bike Concept locks itself to poles

Posted in Concepts by Shane McGlaun on July 9th, 2010

Here in the sprawled out state of Texas most of us can’t use a bike to get around unless we are in one of the big cities. It’s also hot enough to melt the tires off your bike in the summer so you have that to deal with in additional to worrying about your bike being stolen.

A designer has designed a new concept mountain bike that has a bendable frame to eliminate the fear of theft. That frame is designed to allow the bike to wrap around a pole to prevent theft.

When that TomTom Darth Vader voice pack turned up, I wasn’t excited about it. I was never a Vader fan he’s evil after all. I didn’t like Yoda much in the original films, but in the new flicks he was pretty cool.

TomTom has unveiled a video of a behind the scenes look at the recording of the Yoda voice pack for TomTom GPS units. This may well be the funniest commercial ever.

Eyesight is often the first thing to go as we age, but by the time we need them we may just have robotic eyes. VisionCare Ophthalmic Technologies has now had its implantable miniature telescope approved by the FDA. It’s designed for patients over 75 years old, who are suffering from end-stage macular degeneration.

It magnifies and projects images onto a healthy portion of the retina. The downside is that it can only be used in one eye, since the other eye is needed for your peripheral vision, which you wouldn’t want to be without.

Hulu Plus could have Ad-Free Option, if you pay for it

Posted in Hulu by Conner Flynn on July 8th, 2010

On Wednesday night, speaking with NewTeeVee, the Chief of Hulu, Jason Kilar mentioned that he would be comfortable adding a more expensive tier to Hulu Plus, which would completely remove all ads. As it stands now, Hulu Plus doesn’t get rid of ads while you pay that $9.99 per month, it just gives you access to a wider selection of your shows.

Many people are accustomed to ads while they watch shows, but some people have a different outlook on watching shows/movies on their computer and they don’t want ads. Hulu makes its money from those advertisements. And so do the broadcasting partners who provide those videos. This could be another way for HULU to make money.
