Back To The Future shoes with power laces

Posted in Apparel by Conner Flynn on July 6th, 2010

One of the coolest clothing gadgets in Back To The Future Part 2 were the shoes with power laces. That movie was made in the 1980s and here we are in 2010. Where is it? Right here.

Almost. As it stands now, the motor is still a bit large and it isn’t quite as quick as the movie version, but hey at least someone out there made it happen.

Hopefully in a few years we can have these on store shelves.

    Nice idea but how about…
Replace the laces with a cord of Electroactive Polymer (as used for artificial muscles) and have the power pack in the sole.

Based on no engineering experience but have watched a lot of movies.

I remember watching Back to the Future as a kid and thinking these shoes were amazing and now they are coming to life! I don’t know if I would ever invest in a pair, but I’m sure the die hard fans will be lined up around Nike Town on their release date. I wonder what will be next, flying shoes? http://www.become.com/resource-center/infographic/shoes.html
