Will the next Wii be 3D?

Posted in Wii by Conner Flynn on June 17th, 2010

3D is everywhere, flaunting it’s 3 dimensions in our faces. We now have the details regarding Nintendo’s 3DS and now it looks like Nintendo may be planning another 3D gaming system. The next Nintendo Wii may offer 3D support.

Nintendo’s president, Satoru Iwata told a Japanese newspaper that they were definitely looking into other 3D products aside from the Nintendo 3DS. Here’s what he had to say:

“If you display a 3D image, the image quality becomes extremely bad, so we’d probably do it with the next system…We’re thinking that the timing should be once the 3D television adoption rates crosses the 30% mark. We’re looking at the adoption trends.”

So it looks like the next Wii could have 3D support. It is still a long way off though.
