Spider bike concept is made with airplane tech

Posted in Concepts by Shane McGlaun on June 28th, 2010

I used to work with a guy that was really into bicycling on the highway. He had a bike that was as expensive as many people’s car. The idea was to get as light a bike as possible so you can go faster.

A new bike concept on Yanko Design uses technology from aircraft manufacturing to make it light and strong. The bike is called the spider and is made from square aluminum tubing welded together.

The chain guides of the bike are cold pressed together and the wheels are designed to look like the legs of a spider. It looks like a cross between a racing road bike and a mountain bike to me. I think those chrome fenders are not helping the design though.
